MASC is excited about our 2022-2023 theme, The Magic of MASC – Spellbinding Leadership. Join us as we explore, learn, and experience the magic that is MASC!!

The following MASC committees have open applications from August 15 through September 30, 2022. 

MASC Committee Opportunities

Committees are an excellent way for students in Maryland to get involved on issues for which they are passionate or skilled and to learn more about MASC.

 

MASC currently has seven committee applications open: Action in Middle School; Civic Engagement; Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion; Environmental Affairs; Finance; Mental Health; and Social Media.

Workshop Presenter Certification

September 24, 2022

Registration Sept. 5-19

 

Workshop Presenter Certification Day is a day of learning to certify secondary students to be MASC workshop presenters and to re-certify previously certified presenters.

 

MASC feels peer-teaching is a successful and effective method of training potential and current student leaders. MASC's extensive training yields student lead, high-quality workshops.

Electronics Recycling Fundraiser

 

In keeping with our green goals, MASC is proud to announce a new, environmentally friendly and responsible fundraiser designed to help alleviate the fast-growing environmental problem of e-waste. But we need your help! Simply dust off your old electronics, place them in a box, print the FREE pre-paid shipping label, and take it to the nearest FedEx to ship. 100% of the proceeds from the recycling of these items will go towards funding MASC, so we can continue to have our amazing events and conferences.

MASC Seeking Hosts for Events

 

MASC is seeking hosts for our 2022-2023 Events.  The Legislative Session and Convention require a bid presentation at the December Executive Board meeting.  Hosting the February Executive Board meeting just requires a completed application submitted to the MASC executive directors.

Advisors – It's not too late!!!

National Activity Advisors Clinic

Saturday, August 27

$35 per person

 

The 2022 National Activity Advisors Clinic (NAAC) is an affordable VIRTUAL event designed to kick off the new school year with valuable networking, idea sharing, and hands-on activities that advisors can take and use right away!  Virtual NAAC 2022 will provide 5 hours of hands-on, interactive, practical, inspirational, and ready-to-use advising tools that will help to make 2022-2023 a “Year of Significance” for your group and school.

 

This event is hosted by the Michigan Association of Student Councils and Honor Societies.

Foundations For Advisors

(Activity Advisor Training Program)

Action before Sat., August 27

 

The National Association for Student Activities (NA4SA) is proud to announce its inaugural Foundations for Advisors program for the 2022-2023 school year. This program is specifically designed for new activity advisors to support them in their roles. 

 

Participants will attend the virtual National Activity Advisors Clinic in August and then will receive ongoing professional development throughout the 2022-2023 school year from experienced student activity professionals.

August 30:  In the Work2BeWell Heart-to-Heart Critical Conversations module, students are provided with tools to be successful during difficult conversations. This module prepares students for heart-to-heart conversations with parents, peers, etc. prior to the conversations, and helps them navigate conversations when they don’t go so well.

Maryland Public Schools Strategic Planning Survey

 

The Maryland Strategic Planning Survey is now live! Help shape the future of our schools.
 

The Maryland State Board and Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)  invites Maryland residents to complete their Strategic Planning Survey, which will help guide the implementation of the multi-year strategic plan to transform public education.
