Junior Tennis Fund wants to touch bases with our donors and friends during our period of confinement.  It is difficult for all of us since we enjoy our tennis activities and socializing with one another.  We are hoping by all of us doing our best to stay away from each other, this situation will soon pass.

The grants that we have made this calendar year are not currently being used.  However, once our leaders deem this virus passed, our emphasis on tennis activities for youth will resume. There is serious talk of having the children not return to school the rest of the year.  If that is so, extra activities are more important than ever.

As of this date the Big Day of Giving is still scheduled for May 7th.  We do not plan to have an event during the evening of the 7th this year as we have done in the past.  The donations we receive via the Big Day platform will be the only way to donate during Big Day this year.  If you are unable to participate this year, we will understand.  It is our sincere hope that all of you remain healthy and ready to get onto the courts as soon as we get the okay.

GET YOUR RACKET BACK

“The old school taught us to “get your racket back”, which often resulted in a tense back swing. A tight grip and a tight backswing prevented a fluid and smooth swing forward. Today’s players use the non-dominant hand to prepare the racket. This produces a fuller turn and allows for a relaxed racket grip, where the non-dominant hand can assist in grip changes. You can feel how significant the non-dominant hand is if you take the fingers of the racket hand off the grip when you turn. This keeps the backswing relaxed, loads the shoulders, and will allow the kinetic chain to unwind a fast swing forward. Firm up your grip just before contact and you will have a solid, successful shot.”
