We are incredibly thankful to have FloraCraft on board as our Empty Bowls "Soup-er Hero" presenting sponsor. We're pleased to share a few words from FloraCraft about the company, and why organizations like LFC are so important:

At FloraCraft we look forward to sponsoring the Empty Bowls fundraiser because it aligns perfectly with our desire to give back to those in the community who face food insecurities daily, no one should have to wonder where their next meal will come from.

Volunteer Currents

MEET ROD

Chances are you already know Rod Young. He routinely volunteers Monday through Friday from noon to 2 p.m., and has been doing so since a few weeks after the doors opened. He heard about the Food Club, didn’t know much about the program, but decided to try it out - and how fortunate we are he did!

Rod works diligently to sort and repack produce donated from a variety of sources. He also takes inventory of deliveries and donations, stocks the shelves and works the checkout.

In addition to Rod’s regular shifts he uses his truck to pick up orders from Aldi, Meijer and Walmart when needed and helped bring the huge donation from the Post Office back to the Food Club last spring. Rod has volunteered for all the deep cleaning days, helping to power wash the shelves and racks from the cooler.

The best part of volunteering, Rod says, is working with fellow volunteers and meeting new members all the time.

Rod is a lifelong Ludington resident. He retired from Haworth after working there for 17 years, and prior to that worked at General Electric Telephone for 17 years. He has three brothers (Dave Young is one!) and a sister. Rod also volunteers at his church, Trinity Evangelical.

EMPTY BOWLS HELPERS

Check with Kate or a member of the Development Committee to learn more - it's sure to be a fun time (even if you're working)!
