Fall Preview Update

Maine STREAM Place, Inc.

Welcome to our edited third newsletter. We've changed the time that the Knights will meet from 3:30 - 5:30 to 5:30 - 7:30 to allow more sports players to join us... We aren't sure yet how often we will send out a newsletter. We want to be sure you are getting news each time. We promise no more than once a month, but more often than a Blue Moon (in the picture below), at least quarterly. This month's newsletter introduces some of our fall programs. Enjoy!

Blue Moon, taken on the last day of August 2023. What is a Blue Moon? A monthly Blue Moon is the second full moon that occurs in one calendar month. As you can see, it is not actually blue. The next monthly Blue Moon will not occur until May 31, 2026.

This program inspires young people to experiment and grow their confidence, critical thinking, and design skills through hands-on learning. FIRST LEGO League was created through an alliance between FIRST® and LEGO® Education. Here is a link to an overview of this year's game: Masterpiece

And, here is all the data that FIRST has about this year's game: Challenge, Updates, & Resources | FIRST (firstinspires.org).

Do @ Home

This summer 11 students were able to come to Meet 'n' Do - Fun with Electronics. Here is a booklet on how you can Do @ Home the 7 projects that they did. We plan to add more projects as we have time to test and write up the procedures. Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or would like to participate in a future Meet 'n' Do, by contacting us at info@mainestreamplace.org

Do you want to help?

We have many opportunities for people to volunteer their time, talents, and resources. If you want to help, let us know what you are good at. It doesn't have to be technical. Contact us at info@mainestreamplace.org

You might be surprised at how much money it takes to support our teams. FIRST Lego League needs $1500 and the Knights of Katahdin team needs over $50,000. Any amount would help. Click on the Donate button below to make a contribution. Thank you!
