Welcome to the very first issue of The Blend! These monthly newsletters were born out of my desire to be able to share everything from product launches and recommendations to my top lifestyle and beauty tips. I hope you enjoy reading this month’s edition.
Rejuvenating winter skin
I don’t know about you, but the winter weather has been wreaking havoc with my skin; it simply hasn’t been appreciating the punishing blasts of chilly air and central heating. To help remedy this, I’ve been using our Collagen Boost Face Oil to deeply nourish my skin, help boost collagen production and to minimise the appearance of fine lines. Infused with hardworking ingredients such as Sea Buckthorn extract and Eco Marine Algae, this 100% natural oil is just what my skin needs.
The beauty-loving Egyptians were certainly onto something when they recognised the power of using oils for the purpose of preserving their youth and improving their overall sense of wellbeing. Cleopatra, the femme fatale of this age, was said to be a fan of using oils daily by adding them to her bath and massaging them directly onto her face.
Such is the power of oil that it can make a highly effective cleanser too. Did you know that oil attracts oil, which is why an oil-based cleanser is so effective at removing makeup and sunscreen? If you’d like to see for yourself, try cleansing with some olive oil and a hot cloth for a few days and see what you think. Massaging the skin with a muslin cloth gently exfoliates the skin but, of late, I have been also using a powder-based exfoliant. My latest discovery is Eve Taylor’s Micro-Fine Daily Exfoliant which uses fruit enzymes to digest the dead skin cells – it's a highly effective and great value product!
If I continue with my daily routine of cleansing, exfoliating and applying our oil, I feel that a glowing, rejuvenated complexion is just around the corner.
The first month of the year has been spent in my workshop developing new products. This has led me to reflect on the journey that I have been on since setting up the business that I feel so passionate about. I feel proud of our achievements in 2022, a year in which we gained many more loyal fans of our products and won a host of awards:
Receiving these awards was a proud moment for our fledgling brand and a sign of recognition within the beauty industry. This year I’m looking forward to adding some new and exciting products to our range. I feel so fortunate that I can spend my time doing something that I love, whilst creating products that I believe bring real benefits to those who use them.
This month
I’ve been reading:‘Educated’, a memoir by the brilliant Tara Westover. This inspirational story tells the tale of her own childhood spent in a Mormon survivalist family in Idaho and the overcoming of many challenges to be able to attend school – finally – at the age of 17! It’s a testament to the power of human potential and really made me think about the rigidity of our education system. As Tara beautifully puts it: “I think education is really just a process of self-discovery—of developing a sense of self and what you think. I think of it as this great mechanism of connecting and equalizing.”
I’ve been cooking:As a keen cook, I have enjoyed delving into Rachel Allen’s Soup Broth Bread cookery book and creating some delicious and warming winter fare.
With Mother's Day on the horizon, I thought I'd draw your attention to our custom gift box which can be filled with your choice of Cotswold Remedies goodies.
