Coldest Night of the Year lives up to its name - Campbell River MirrorThe Coldest Night of the Year lived up to its name for 2023, with the snow starting to worsen as participants gathered outside the Rose Harbour building in Campbell River. The fundraiser helps raise money for people who are living outside, those who have to face cold nights more often than once a year. |

A Message from the Executive Director |

February was a busy month for us, we have been busy hosting the Coldest Night of the Year and raising much needed funds for the society. We had lots of support from the community and our sponsors. We raised over $50,000! With a last-minute donation, I lost the polar plunge challenge to Myra with the team “Putting the BRR in VIR”. I ended up taking a very cold plunge, but it was all for a good cause! Spring is a very busy time for us. Every April we commemorate the Prevention of Violence Against Women Week held during the third week of April, by inviting the community to view a powerful display of decorated t-shirts, The Clothesline Project, created by people who have been affected by abuse. Then we will be gearing up for our third annual Drive Away Domestic Violence Golf Tournament. It promises to be a fun filled day for everyone. Including a full day of golf, silent auction and 50/50 charity raffle. Events and initiatives, help us bridge the funding gap, to continue be able to help vulnerable women in our community receive the appropriate services, safety and housing. We are getting excited for Eagle Harbour and we hope to have applications live soon. Keep an eye on our website. Like most sectors we continue to have staffing challenges and are understaffed. CRNITS is a wonderful organization to work for with lots of career opportunities. Please check out our website annelmorehouse.ca/opportunities. Thank you to our sponsors and supporters for their generosity, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without you. Lori Hirst, Executive Director |
