Do we even know anymore?
We live in a time where it seems it has become more important what other people tell us than what we tell ourselves.
Who we are and what are we?
These have become questions we let other people answer for us. People that sometimes don't even know us.
We let them define us, validate us and approve or disapprove of us.
Are we healthy? Are we sick? Are we good or are we bad?
We have started to live to please. We put on masks and we play games. We look down on our phones and we forget the world we can touch. Why do we do this? What are we looking for? And has it gone too far? Are we losing ourselves in this hunt for validation and nonstop attention?
And if so, could there be a way out of this?
Could there be another way to connect?
The human face consists of 42 muscles. Together with an almost infinite amount of expressions and emotions our faces are like worlds capable of telling stories so complex it would probably be impossible to explain them in words.
Did you know that when you feel strong emotions such as love, empathy, fear, or anger your face triggers autonomous mimicry that works like pathways to understand and connect with yourself and the people around you?
It is so profound and strong that you do it without even thinking.
Without it, we wouldn´t simply function properly in this world.
Our faces can truly be like a map of what's inside us.
Like the rings in a tree.
And maybe, just maybe that's all we need to truly connect with each other.
Have you ever looked at someone and just started to smile and then that person does the same?
or have you ever looked at someone and just felt like they know you or somehow just know how you feel?
It's a truly powerful feeling.
And it all starts with your face
