Greetings fellow community members,
We are West Cork Sudbury School, a new democratic, self-directed learning school in the Bantry, Glengarriff area who are set to open the doors this September with over 20 students! After nearly two years we are about to see all our efforts come to fruition! We are so excited at the prospect of working with these incredible youth and to be creating this much-needed space in our community!
The school is for ages 5-18 and with no enforced government curriculum we are, at present exempt from any government funding. The school is entirely self-funded so the five founders will be working for minimum wage and volunteering the rest of the needed hours. We are a company limited by guarantee and in the process of becoming a not-for-profit charity.
It is our aim and passion to make this school accessible for all who need and wish to avail of this type of alternative schooling; where talents and abilities are valued and nurtured; enabling youth to flourish; and to be supported to becoming experts in their own choosing.
West Cork Sudbury School is currently looking for donations for laptops; computers; art-supplies; musical equipment; two sewing machines; office equipment such as good chairs; notebooks; white boards; flip charts; pens; books; indoor and outdoor trampolines; swings; cooking and bake-ware; storage boxes; etc.
All your contributions are greatly valued and hugely appreciated.
