We're excited to announce Cooperation Buffalo's COVID-19 Response Collaborative Webinar Series.
The COVID-19 pandemic has shown how utterly unprepared our political and economic institutions are to respond to public health crises. But for the working class and marginalized communities, our economic system has consistently failed to provide basic material necessities and foster healthy communities.
Simply put, capitalism is the crisis.
Join Cooperation Buffalo, PUSH Buffalo, and Preservation Buffalo Niagara in a series of conversations about how we can emerge from this crisis with the institutions and movements we need to build the world we want.
All webinars are free and open to the public! You can now register for our first webinar, which will be held on July 3. Please see the details below:
From Mutual Aid To Solidarity Economy - Wednesday, June 3, 6pm-7:30pm
In Buffalo and around the country, communities have come together to take care of each other during the COVID-19 crisis. Mutual Aid efforts, built on the premise of "solidarity, not charity", have connected community members to the resources that they need. But Mutual Aid can’t, on its own, solve the systemic issues of our economy.
Returning our economy to "normal", which has been run on exploitation, racism, and oppression, is not an option. How do we transition from Mutual Aid to a Solidarity Economy that prioritizes cooperation, equity, health, and sustainability?
