BAPTISM OF THE LORD today
The season of Epiphany continues today as we remember Jesus’ Baptism and the voice from heaven declaring him to be the Son of God. Today we are invited to renew our baptismal promises at the font.
CHRISTIAN UNITY SUNDAY next Sunday
We shall commemorate Christian Unity Sunday with special prayers for the outward and visible unity of all Christians. We are looking forward to welcoming Pastor Andrew Willis from High Road Baptist Church as our preacher.
BURNS NIGHT Saturday 25 January 7.30pm
Get your kilt out of mothballs and fire up your bagpipes for ‘Vicar, where's your troosers?’ as we mark the Scottish Bard’s 261st birthday. Tuck into the Great chieftain o’ the puddin' race and more. Tickets are available today at £10 per person over 12 years of age (bursaries available). All welcome.
CANDLEMAS GIFTS presented Sunday 2 February
The congregation is invited to give candles, incense, charcoal, wafers, wine and so on for use in our worship throughout the year. Forms are available at the back of church for you to mark what you would like to give, and your gifts will be ceremonially presented on Candlemas when the Dean of Chelmsford will be with us as our preacher. Please return your form and payment to Marcel Firth by Sunday 26 January.
REGENERATION CELEBRATION Sunday 16 February
Over the next 3 weeks our floors will be refurbished, ending the PCC’s significant project - of several years - to restore and beautify our church building. On the second Sunday before Lent the Venerable Elwin Cockett, Archdeacon of West Ham, will be with us for the Parish Mass and he will consecrate the works to the glory of God. We are looking forward also to welcoming our architect Michael Poteliakhoff and the contractors who carried out the works - and we shall thank God for the generous benefactors who funded them. There will be drinks and canapés after Mass. Please be sure to be at this important milestone celebration.
