So many awesome things are happening around here! We had THREE of our upcoming brilliant writers stop by the shop yesterday, just enjoying some casual round-tabling and supporting each other as fellow authors. It was very cool to experience. We also have a new volunteer who has started working Monday-Friday! Come by and meet Arturo and stay awhile to chat with us. Happy Friday! |

Fiction Showcase: MYSTERY/SUSPENSE |
We joke around here about a few prolific authors’ books that we seem to continue to acquire, including the works of suspense/adventure writer, Clive Cussler. I enjoyed both the book and the movie, Sahara so much that I often suggest the Dirk Pitt’s series to action fiction readers. The protagonist, Dirk Pitts, is a decorated military hero (Air Force in the novels, Navy in the movie), and now works for an underwater treasure hunting preservation organization called the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA). Maybe you’ve seen the movie or read one of the books, but did you know…. 1. Dirk Pitt is named after Clive’s son, Dirk Cussler 2. Dirk Cussler is the head of the council of NUMA (see fictious organization above) 3. Clive Cussler (the series author) used his book royalties to CREATE AN ACTUAL NUMA ORGANIZATION. Like, for reals. They have been involved in several shipwreck discoveries and preservation operations. We have several books here at the shop about Dirk Pitt’s adventures working for the imagined version of NUMA. And you can check out the real NUMA at the link below. |

Saturday, May 20, 2-4pm Lori Vober, author of a fantastic self-agency book, Choices, will be joining us for a reading and signing. Her books will be available for purchase. Lori survived a damaging stroke at the young age of 29, but her faith and perseverance helped her exceed doctor expectations. In her book, she asks readers, "When you are faced with a challenge, what choice will you make?" Come be inspired and empowered to take control of your life. Lori has also created a free personal reflection question packet that you will receive to help get you started. You don't want to miss this event!

Saturday, May 27, 2-6pm T.J. Lombardi is back at the shop! He will be reading a teaser chapter from his book, The Dying Breed: Hunters, and will be signing purchased copies. We have the inside scoop that book number two is almost ready to go to print, so this is the perfect time to get started on this fantastic series. Charity's question to you after you've read book one is: which character is YOUR favorite?

Well, I guess there's not very much new news this week because I want to keep advertising all of the great events we have coming up! However, that doesn't mean you can't help us with future newsletters. Got an idea for a section? Want to submit a photo of something you experienced or discovered that would be awesome to share? Just let us know. Oh, and take care of yourself. We value you and hope you have lots of days of you living your best life. Come see us if you need a recharge. ~ Charity and Amy (and Jack and Toothless) P.S. If you write us with feedback, can you address it as "Letter to the Editor"? I think it would be super cool to see that tag in the subject line. :)
