April showers bring May flowers...
We love the blossoming of this wisteria we planted a few years ago in honor of my mother-in-law. I was lucky enough to capture this photo of it at its peak before a heavy spring rain storm battered all the petals down to the ground.
Just a few feet away is a tulip tree that we planted in honor of my Mom. It didn't exactly have a "peak" this year, but I'm hopeful as it continues to mature each year that it will eventually have its season to shine.
I'm grateful to have strong seasonal connections to these important ladies in our families as a reminder of their impact to us in so many "motherly" ways. Each year as we approach Mother's Day I have some nostalgic moments that filter in as I remember each of their maternal influences on me. This year's added twist is missing them being alongside me to prepare as their oldest grandson is about to graduate from college and get married. They would be so excited!
Let's engage gently with those around us on Mother's Day, being mindful that it's possibly more emotionally laden than expected. Hugs and warm wishes to each of you!
