A Letter from Dave

Hey Everyone,

College basketball season is now here!

And the existence of College Basketball Times now makes a little more sense.

Big thanks to all of you for subscribing to this newsletter.

"No problem, Dave, but what’s the news?"

Well, that kind of depends on when you were last on the site.

"I was just on the site 5 minutes ago."

Well, then no, there’s not much news for you.  Actually, that might not be true...

We've had a number of accomplishments towards our goal of equal coverage for women, men and all levels of college basketball.

(Our current focus is on D1, D2, D3, NAIA, JUCO and College Wheelchair.)

We are now an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization!  We’ve even begun raising money with hopes of getting enough to not only cover expenses, but to purchase a wheelchair for a player in need.  Come on, can I get a Way To Go?!

“Ok Dave, Way To Go!”

Next, we have a pretty impressive Board of Advisors, which includes Seth Davis (CBS Sports), Jennifer Rizzotti (UConn great), Bruce Burge (Cleveland Cavs exec) and Christina Schwab (3 Paralympic golds).  Yeah, when I’m around them I know how Ringo felt.  Please check out the rest of our stellar advisory board here.

We are now active on Facebook as well as Twitter and Instagram !

“Wow that’s great Dave. So you are posting 8 or 9 times a day?”

Well, “active" might be a stretch.  But if you’d really like to help you could follow us on those sites.

”Would that be the best way we could help, Dave?”

I’d say 2nd best.

In addition we now have a YouTube site, where MIAA Coach of the Decade Kristen McDonnell co-hosts the CBT Show with a dufus who tries to be funny.

"Would you be that dufus, Dave?”

Yes, yes I would.  Kristen, however, is both knowledgeable about hoops and quite entertaining when interviewing players from across the college hoops world.

"And what are you Dave?”

I guess somewhat irrelevant.  But I assure you it’s worth a watch.

And coming soon is “College Basketball Times Presents: 3 (College Hoops) Questions With Zane.”  Zane Bianchi has been hosting his own very successful show, "3 Questions with Zane" for quite some time. He’s previously interviewed Jim Calhoun, Frank Martin, Dan Dakich and Buddy Boeheim. And some time in the near future, he’ll be turning 12. Yes the kid’s amazing.

Last, but definitely not least, we should have many more cover stories, articles and rankings posted regularly.  The hope is by January we have at least one new piece up per day as part of our quest to keep the legacy of Basketball Times alive.  I’ll keep you posted with this newsletter.

And please try to get a friend or two to subscribe.

“So would that be the best way for us to help, Dave?”

I’d say it’s tied for 2nd

Thanks so much.

I’ll bother you again soon.

Sincerely,

Dave Barend - President
