The Spring Cleaning Spirit |
|
|
In the spirit of spring cleaning and watching way too much HGTV, Price Hill Will has decided to fully embrace the open floorplan concept and knock out the north-facing exterior wall at ARCO to produce the new look above... like it?! No? Us either! We couldn't resist some April Fools goodness. All joking aside, we have some exciting updates to share this month. This month's newsletter contains event details on several openings around Price Hill, a call for artist contributions to our area sidewalks, an invitation to tour ARCO virtually, and hiring information for a key role with PHW. |

3 Homesteading Projects in the Works 1342 Manss Avenue will be available by the end of the week. This property was built in 1878, with some additions since that time, and features a large, fenced yard perfect for a family. We are in the process of purchasing 4015 Akochia Court. This is a 3-4 bedroom home with a fenced yard and a large separate workshop on a quiet street near Resurrection Church & School. Interior work at 2605 Ring Place will resume next week. The scope of work here is more substantial. Thus far, subsidy has been provided by The Port for the exterior work. Once complete, this will be another 3-4 bedroom home, bungalow style, with a deep, wooded, and very private lot. We are lucky that several families have already been approved by Santa Maria and Working in Neighborhoods for these homes! |

Collective Good[s] Has Got The Goods Our partnering grocery operator, the nonprofit Your Store of the Queen City, has shared that Meiser's Fresh Grocery & Deli on State Avenue in Lower Price Hill is in its final 8 weeks of tenant fit-out construction, with about 45 days planned after that to finalize equipment installation and inspections and end the food desert in the neighborhood! In the meantime, Lower Price Hill Collective Good[s] Farmers + Makers Market will resume its outdoor season with a weekly socially-distanced presence outside of Meiser's again, beginning on Tuesday, April 13th from 3:30-5:30. There you can get fruits and vegetables for a sliding-scale-donation with Meiser's, as well as purchase neighborhood food-makers' breads, snacks, and treats and a variety of items from The Collective of Lower Price Hill Artists and Makers including handmade jewelry, cotton crochet, visual art and paintings, healing balms and aromatherapy, and plants! Safe online pre-ordering with parking lot pickup is available for many of these quality items, as well as fresh organic chicken and eggs. To learn more about how you can treat yourself with neighbor-owned businesses, visit https://www.yourstoreqc.org/collective-goods-market or follow @meisersfresh on Facebook & Instagram. |

Mark Your Calendars: Its Tot Lot Time The Olden Tot Lot – a newly renovated park in East Price Hill’s Warsaw Avenue neighborhood business district – finished the final piece of its renovation recently with the addition of a shade shelter. The park is now ready for warm, sunny weather, so that it can be filled with the smiling faces of kids, families, and caregivers. This was certainly not an easy project, and we greatly appreciate everyone’s diligence and concerted efforts to see this project through to the end. We would like to host a small, safe gathering/ribbon cutting to welcome this new addition to the park and hope that you all are able to join us. The date for this event – weather permitting – is Friday, April 30th at 10:00AM. |

Incline Run on Pace with New Funds and New Planters Activity is starting back up on the Maryland Ave Incline Run bike and pedestrian path! Price Hill resident and artist Ben Thomas and his student assistant Shariyah will resume painting the mural this month. Paul Kroner is also finishing production on his Incline-inspired brochure stand, which will soon be installed near the mural and south entrance. Price Hill Will was recently awarded grant money from the Keep Cincinnati Beautiful Safe and Clean Neighborhoods Fund, so we are thrilled to continue making more community-engaged art! With these funds we want to bring Price Hill resident and artist Caitlin Arnest’s concrete planter mosaics to life. We will be asking residents what images or symbols represent Price Hill to them and using these ideas for mosaic design. Keep your eyes out for more information on ways to get involved with planning and making this next part of the project. |
