York County Reads: YCL proudly launches its first York County Reads program for January/February 2020! This community-wide program inspires all ages to read books on kindness, friendship, and anti-bullying. Read any book listed below or read them all! Help us promote literacy and community engagement. Tag us with what you’re reading on social media with #yorkcountyreads2020. Get encouraged to perform a random act of kindness, and, in January, your reading counts toward our Winter Reading Challenge! Watch for more details on special author visits, programs, and more. |

YCL Believes in the Importance of Access for Everyone We join many national libraries in temporarily halting the purchase of new materials published by Macmillan publishers for restricting when and how many new e-book titles libraries can purchase. Help us send a message to Macmillan, its related imprints, and other publishers considering similar restrictions. Visit eBooksForAll.org for a petition you can sign, links for more information, and additional suggestions to voice your support. |

Local Artist Spotlight After moving from France to the U.S. in 1938, C. M. "Kit" Kakassy later pursued her interest in art throughout the Carolinas in schools, classes, and exhibitions. She strives to excite the eye using shapes, colors, marks, and textures, while intuition and creativity guide her hand. "How the viewer interprets the work becomes that person’s reality," Kit says. "The surprises that occur when considering visual relationships are engaging and exciting." See some of Kit's work at Clover Library. |
