August 2018

looking for a good book?

Hello, friends, and happy almost-September-almost-FALL!!!

I'm excited to announce a full fall, with the next performance of Last Nights of the King (for ladies only) coming up Oct. 13th in Gwinnet, GA.

More details to come next month! In the meantime...

One great thing about freelancing life - more time to in classroom of books! Here are my top pics that I've read (ahem... *devoured*) this summer. If you're looking for something good, definitely look into these!

For your self knowledge and transformation:

This is a primer on the personality typing tool, the Enneagram. Unlike other personality assessments, this one has caught my attention because it acts as tool to put you on a path of spiritual growth leading to compassion for yourself and others, rather than just as a handy way to make sense of why you behave the way you do. I also recommend Typology podcast, hosted by one of the authors. I've learned a ton from it this summer and really had fun listening to it.

For your all-around self and spiritual development:

I've been savoring my way through this one, and boy, is it just what I need right now in this new career venture life chapter! Do you want to face your fears, grow your courage, and regain perspective on the why's and who for's of life? (*Disclaimer: If you're not interested in laugh/crying your way through this book, don't buy it. )

For your experience of prayer:

Wow...This book has blown open what was my very small understanding of the "Lord's Prayer" and multiplied my appreciation of it's short and powerful lines a hundred fold. The author argues convincingly that Jesus' prayer is not just a teaching for how to pray, but for how to live. This is one of those books that I am now doing my best to daily apply, and one I will most likely return to again...often.

Listen to a great podcast on the Lord's Prayer by Tim Mackie of the Bible Project

For your grasp on cool and relevant theology:

You can download this workbook on Heaven and Earth from the Bible Project FREE! TJ and I finished going through it before summer started and LOVED it- basically, prepare yourself to let the Bible blow the lid off everything you thought you knew about Heaven and Eart and what they mean in the overall story of the Bible. If you're not familiar with the Bible Project, check them out! They will help you shed your 21st c worldview in order to see Scripture through the eyes of the society that wrote and received it first. They create beautiful videos and supplemental materials- all for free!

Get It Here Free!

As always- thanks for everything!

With love,

Katie
