IT IS NEWSLETTER FRIDAY! Happy First Newsletter Friday of the year! Welcome to those of you who are reading this for the first time and welcome back to those returning! Since the last newsletter, a lot has happened. There is so much to say but, at the same time, I am at a loss for words. I will say this though: I wanted to start the first newsletter of 2021 by wishing everyone a happy new year! But recently, things haven't appeared so happy. With the events that took place on January 6th, it is okay to feel whatever you are feeling. I do want to say this, do not blame this on 2021 or 2020. This is a product of years and years of history and choices we made as a society. What happened is deeply infuriating and saddening but now, more than ever, we still have to continue to do our work. This past year, this presidency, and many years before that have brought us to this moment. We have to learn and understand what happened but we also have to keep moving forward. We can and have to continue to push to create a better tomorrow in this moment and every moment after that. THE POLL RESULTS: In this week's results, we have another tie! It was a tight race and with many AMAZING Pixar films, only one can reign as the best of the best. |
|
|
The tie is between the Toy Story Series and Monsters Inc./Monsters University. Since I must decide the winning vote (again), I pick Toy Story to be the winner! This might not be my favorite Pixar movie but, it for sure has my heart. Want to participate in the next poll? Scroll down to partake! |

IN THE HEADLINES: Are you tired of all the constant headlines popping up on your phones? Does the news sometimes ruin the day? Here is a place where you can find uplifting, fun, and good news from people in our own community. Keep looking to your own life headlines for a smile! |
|
|
Featured Headlines: - "I took a break from work and it sparked my creativity"
- "I watched Ratatouille the Musical with friends"
- "My family held a PowerPoint Party for Christmas!"
- "I got a 4.0 during my first semester of grad school!!!"
Ratatouille the Musical sounds like so much fun! That is a great way to start the new year. Stacy, that sounds like a fun thing to do this year for the holidays! Finally, congrats Liza (we are proud of you)! Our news might be small but, it was good news! Want to be featured "In the Headlines"? Share your breaking news here to have the chance to be in the next newsletter! OTHER NEWS: The new year has brought a point of reflection. I am trying to take more moments to reflect, practice gratitude, and be in the now. With all that is going on, I will continue to find ways to do all of that while giving back and finding ways to build a better tomorrow. One way I have been working towards creating this is by finding ways to create community. I know a community starts small but, there is always room for it to grow. The newsletter, Youtube, and the blog is just one way I have been doing that and I am always looking for more ways to help. January 20th is right around the corner! Joe Biden will become the next president and Kamala Harris will become the next Vice President in only a week and a half. There is a lot of work to do but, we are taking one step forward. "Thoughts n' Things" posts and YouTube videos return this coming week! Can't wait to continue creating alongside all of you! |

Alex's Book Corner I am currently reading: - A Promised Land by Barak Obama
- The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead
What I have read these past few weeks: - The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
- I enjoyed some concepts from this book. Put a lot of things in perspective but, a tad repetitive. (4 stars)
- Work Rules!: Insights from Inside Google That Will Transform How You Live and Lead by Laszlo Bock
- Interesting thoughts and insights. Was very textbookish and some parts a little too long. (3 stars)
- The Goldfinch by Donna Tart
- This story took you all over and was a great story. It was a little too long but, I liked it! (4 stars)
