For the last eight years my husband and I have traveled to midcoast Maine for a two week vacation in August. We were glad to be back at our little rental house on the water, but as expected, we spent our days in a different way this year.  One of my favorite activities is the Monsweag Flea Market. Table after table of old stuff. I end up going through twice because you always see different things the second time around. There is almost no limit to the time I can spend at flea markets. Unfortunately like many things, there was no flea market this year. One favorite stop was open, Treasures and Trash Barn in Searsport. More than once I have left with a pile of old shutters tied to the top of the car.  This year I found some great old wood, an old wheel and the sides from an old box of railway fire extinguishers that will look great on a spice rack.

We spent a lot more time at the house this year. Inspired by my husband who is a wonderful watercolor artist, I worked on my sketching skills. I love animals and our dog likes to nap, so I had the perfect subject.

I’m looking forward to being back in my studio and making new work to share with you. I’ve started collecting photos of the key holders in use. Here is a recent one with masks and a key.
