Do you find yourself a bit 'hotter' lately? Are you more prone to irritation by the July heat? Or flushed with anger? Are hot flashes bothersome?

Thousands of years ago, the yoga sages observed and emulated the natural world around them. They noticed the curve of a bird's beak, leaves curling and collecting cool dewfall.

The sages, through nature, found a pranayama that cools and soothes mind/body- "Sitali" breath.

Sitali pranayama allows practitioners to sip cool, moist air and exchange it for unnecessary heat.

Sitali cools the body and mind.

It adds welcome moisture to the system and soothes that hot, irritated pitta imbalance that dominates in summertime.

We will explore "Sitali pranayama" all month long in all

Joyful Peace Yoga classes.

"MOVEMENT IS MEDICINE"

ARTHRITIS WORKSHOP

The American College of Rheumatology and the Osteoarthritis Research Society International note that "stretching and strengthening exercises such as those found in yoga, can improve endurance and overall condition while helping to preserve abilities".

The skills found on the yoga mat help to combat fatigue and pain common in arthritis patients.

Gentle, easy moving Yoga helps to preserve mobility and reduce arthritis symptoms, if practiced MINDFULLY and along the 5 koshas of being.

 

THIS WORKSHOP IS NOT EXCLUSIVE TO ARTHRITIS PATIENTS!

If you have an aging body and a mind hungry for learning (like what are those aforementioned "koshas"?!) , this workshop is for you!

Philosophy Corner~

In the ancient yoga text, the Upanishads, a person is described as having 5 layers ('koshas') that interpenetrate one another and encase the spirit.

According to these texts, any authentic answer to the questions "Who am I, really?" and "What is the true meaning of my life?" involves looking into these layers.
