Fundraisers out of the blue!

I thought I’d take a little time away from sweating and watering plants to write a little something about the folks who take care of us. You know who you are! So, maybe a month or so after we lost Tobin, a group of business associates called and asked us out to dinner. They had held a little fundraiser for We’ll Get This! and wanted to present us with one of those huge checks. We thought WOW! How sweet is that!?!
From the very beginning people have thrown us little, and sometimes enormous, fundraisers out of the blue, many times without our knowledge!
From personal donations, little office collections, and impromptu parties, to enormous corporations and the squillion Facebook birthday fundraisers, people have just organized fundraisers for us. Heck! Even the idea for a Halloween golf tournament every year was brought to us by a good friend!
Now, since We’ll Get This! is the only non-profit I’ve ever been involved in, I kind of figured this was common, and something all non-profits experience. Evidently that is incorrect! You all do this just for us! What an incredible group of kind, generous, and thoughtful people you are! The fact that all of you see the work we do as worthy fills me with such gratitude. And as National Non-Profit Day quickly approaches (August 17), I am so very thankful for something important to do and am grateful for each and every bit of kindness shown to us.
Thank you all for the ‘fundraisers out of the blue’! We will make sure we get these families where they need to be. I know Tobin is thrilled! Happy 26th birthday my sweet Tobes!
