Barbecues seem to be becoming more popular recently! There's also a new happy hour and a ladies' night. There's also some big music festivals this weekend and of course lots of live bands. Breakfast and Lunch Bakes by Bella is well known for its cakes and bakes and of course lunches and teas, but they also do breakfast. They have a nice breakfast menu including eggs benedict, waffles, pancakes and a full cooked, available 8.30am to 6.00pm. Sunday Brunch on the beach? What could be better? So Sugar Beach have a new Sunday Brunch menu with western classics like eggs, bacon, French toast as well as a vegan bowl, shakshuka and a Sri Lankan option. There's also a "hangover pizza" that we imagine could be popular! Brunch is available Sundays from 10am. Pepero by Wijayasiri have a barbecue and grill menu featuring a barbecue chicken meal for Rs550 and barbecue fish or pork meals for Rs650. They also have a family pack for Rs2000. These are available for delivery or takeaway from 12.00pm to 10.00pm daily. Another barbecue option is of course burgers and BBQ Avenue have a range of speciality burgers and submarines. These include a chicken tikka or rashmi burger for Rs490, a prawn tikka burger for Rs620 or a crispy fish burger for Rs590. High Tea and Dinner Mitsi's Delicacies have revamped their High Tea and it looks even better. There's six savoury items including chicken shawarma and lamb kebab, plus two pieces of home made cake plus a hot or cold drink. The cost is Rs3500 for two people or Rs5250 for three. Botanik, voted one of Asia's 50 best bars, is hosting another speciality dinner. This time it's all about Oysters and Clams with a live oyster station, bowls of clams and other dishes. This takes place on Saturday, 12th March, for one day only. Mandarina Hotel have introduced a new Indian dinner buffet at their On the 11th restaurant. Prepared by their own Indian chefs, the buffet is available on Fridays from 7.00pm to 10.30pm and is priced at Rs3500 per person. And Indian Summer have another buy one get one free offer through Uber Eats. The offer applies to five dishes and is available until 23 March. | | |

Happy Hours & Ladies' Night Good news from Sugar Bistro. They have started a new Happy Hour and it starts an hour earlier than most! It's from 4.00pm to 7.00pm daily and they offer buy one, get one free on select wine, beers and spirits. And not to be left out, Sugar Beach have also got a happy hour. This too offers buy one, get one free on selected wines, cocktails and beers but is available at the more standard time of 5.00pm to 7.00pm and is on specific days namely Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. And Butler's Pub now have a Ladies' Night too. It's on the same night as most, Wednesdays, and from 7.00pm ladies can enjoy buy one get one free on selected cocktails. | | |

Live Music and DJs So last weekend was a big weekend for live music festivals; this weekend there's going to be several EDM music festival. We'll get there in a moment but first the live music. Aside from the regular gigs, on Friday you can catch Murunga at Darley Road, Link at The Irish, Redeemers at Curve and Daria & Malithra at Allstar. On Saturday, the Long Bar are celebrating their 8th anniversary and putting on a cracking double gig with The Kingdom and Warehouse Project. For other gigs, you'll find OiC at SunsetBlu, Aquarius at Curve and Cold Sweat at Allstar . For other gigs this week, please check our Gig Diary which is updated daily. So those EDM festivals. Senter Music Festival is taking places at Excel World on Saturday with a great lineup of DJ Katch, Apzi, Iraj, ADK, DJ Mass, Romaine Willis and Sandaru Sathsara. The Flying Dust Festival is also on Saturday at Pink Salt in Dehiwala, featuring Emi Galvan with Enzo vood, Jayy Vibes, Noiyse Project, Spike, Subandrio and Ultra. And at Firebeach it's Splash pool party, kicking off at midday through till 1.00am with DJs Mariis, Sak'd, Tim Tim The Music Director, Hitch, Trev D and Dasun on Percussion. Ask for Fern and Chiller Room are having a Big Birthday Banger on Friday, with Kyze Music, Mercue, Dirty Dzn, Clifford Isaac, Dr Green and Varuna on Sax. Meanwhile also on Friday "Anubis" at Lavix has Moonkillex, Lunatics and Ace spinning R&B, Hip-Hop, Afro Beats and Reggaeton, while at Botanik it's "No Stylist" with KK, Trev D, Shevin and Clifford Isaac giving some Trap, Grime. Other Events Unfortunately we missed Thursday's Quiz night at Kami Maki at 6.30pm, and the Salsa night at Playtrix from 8.00pm, But those have become regular events now so will be on next week too. It's Karaoke time again on Friday at Cuisine Colombo, from 7.00pm. Free entrance, but a Rs2000 minimum spend and you can BYOB. What better way to start your Saturday than with some pilates followed by a brunch and a glass of bubbly? Head to The Escape on Saturday morning at 9.30am to do just that. How good are you at pool? The newly opened Sky Heights Colombo pool lounge is hosting a Pool Tournament on Saturday from 11am onwards, with prizes for the winner and two runners up. If you enjoy Indian sweets, you might like to learn how to make them? Sunflower Academy have a one day course on Saturday, teaching how to make Indian sweets. You can learn how to make ten different sweets. The course runs from 10.00am until 4.00pm. Have you seen those photos on social media with a table or a platter laden with bites, pastries, fruit, cheese and more? It looks amazing for parties or gatherings and it's great for grazing. If you want to learn how to put those together, there is a Platter Workshop on Sunday morning at Cafe Kumbuk from 0930 to 1100 and you get to take one home with you. And a reminder of the Art Classes at Gallery Fourlife happening on Saturdays from 10.00am to 12.00 midday and from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. These are for adults and kids. And while you're there you can check out the exhibition of "Zen - the Essence of Japanese Beauty" which is on until the 14th March. Looking to next week, on Monday, Shanjei is hosting another Warrior Vinyasa Yoga class at Prana Lounge at 6.15pm.
