Now that things are a bit quieter, we're all set to get going with a number of projects around the grounds.
Laying train track is one of the main projects on our agenda, both the large scale ride-on train and the smaller garden railway. Hopefully in the next issue or two of this newsletter we'll be able to bring you updates on that.
Step one is to build a wagon shed to house the carriages so that we know where everything goes, and we'll expand the track from there. We'll be building the platform soon as well and once that's in place we'll be able to determine the final location of the outdoor chess set and the exact route of the garden railway. We're looking forward to making some good progress!
A few other things underway: we've cleared out the overgrown plants outside Maple Cottage and plan to create a lovely new zen seating area; we've taken down the old, unused barbeque (there's something really fun going in here!!); and we're putting capping stones on the front walls.
And of course a long list of other things we'd like to get on to. Let's hope this lovely autumnal weather holds, so that we can keep working!
