CHANGES to SILVER & FIT PROGRAM |
The Binghamton Tennis Center is no longer participating in the Silver & Fit or Active & Fit programs effective April 20, 2023. We understand that this program has offered some great benefits to its participants, which included access to the club without purchasing an annual membership up front. However, upon thorough review of the relationship, we were unable to reach a mutually beneficial agreement with the organization regarding reimbursement. Current Silver and Fit members have received direct communications regarding this change and offers to pivot to a 6-month membership. Access to tennis programs will not be disrupted for members during this transition. We will continue to evaluate the viability of the Silver & Fit and Active & Fit programs in the event a more favorable agreement can be reached. If you have any questions, contact Tracy at the front desk. |

Contract play will resume this fall. We are currently working with Binghamton University Athletics Department to square away practice schedules and home contests, as well as developing our internal programming plans. These factors play a critical role in determining the availability of contract time slots. We anticipate being able to share more contract details with you, including the selection process, around the beginning of July. Thank you for your patience! |

Summer time on south mountain is beautiful and we are lucky to be neighbors with Unity Stables. The horses and riders are fun to watch! Just a gentle reminder that the stable is private property. Don’t wander the farm or try to pet or feed the horses through the fence. This is for your safety and the health of the horses. Also, when parking at the Tennis Center, be mindful of the stable’s side of the road – they have equipment out, may be mowing and have their own spectators on-site. |

Our period of growth and change at the BTC continues. Between now and September we have several large-and small-scale projects planned to enhance the club, many of which require a delicate balance of variables including weather, supply chain, facility conditions and staffing. We realize that the work may create some minor inconveniences and will do our best to keep members apprised of any conditions that will impact play or traffic. What’s on tap this summer? Completion of the nine outdoor courts including new surfaces, windscreens and site furniture. New indoor court layout and resurfacing to ensure all six courts are NCAA and USTA compliant Improved safety with new external doors, card access and an ADA compliant vestibule A donor supported first aid/training room to support athlete and member needs An exterior paint refresh Updated pro-shop/on-site conveniences Brand specific signage
Stay with us – it’s getting better every day! Rebranding of the Binghamton Tennis Center to the Binghamton University Lane - Starke Tennis Center in September 2023. |

BEARCAT CAMPUS KIDS' DAY AND MEET AND GREET |
The Binghamton Bearcats in collaboration with the USTA, held a special event for our junior tennis legends this March. The Bearcats Campus Kids' Day and Meet and Greet was a huge success, with nine junior players having the opportunity to watch matches, hit with the teams and mingle with some of the best players and coaches on the east coast. Our aspiring juniors got an up-close view of action-packed Division 1 tennis. The juniors saw the skills they are currently developing executed at a high level of performance, as well as the mental fortitude required to compete at this level. Juniors were also exposed to the unique experience of playing tennis within a team environment. In college tennis, the vocal support and encouragement from your teammates and coaches can make all the difference in a match, creating an electric atmosphere that fuels players' motivation and drive. The players spent time after the matches mingling with the juniors, talking about their experiences as college tennis players, playing games and rallying. Thank you to all the Bearcat players and coaching staff for fostering a strong sense of community at the Binghamton Tennis Center. We look forward to more events like this in the future. |

JUNIOR LADDER AND ACHIEVEMENTS |
Heartfelt thanks to all those who participated in and supported our indoor ladder season. It was a great success and provided a wonderful opportunity for our junior tennis players to showcase their skills and gain invaluable experience playing against a variety of opponents. Through regular competition, our junior players have developed their match play, mental toughness and ability to handle pressure situations. The ladder has been a great complement to their ongoing training and has allowed them to apply and practice the skills they are currently developing. It has also provided opportunities for players to receive feedback from coaches and peers, identifying areas for improvement and game plans for future matches. The ladder has gone through a few iterations to find the optimal match-ups, balancing efficiency in setting up matches with an adequate range of opponents. In all versions, we have used the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) system to varying degrees to identify suitable opponents for our juniors. UTR provides an overarching sense of structure and accountability and is used for local varsity and tournament purposes. From tournament wins to successful match play, we are proud of our players' dedication and hard work. If you have recently competed in a tournament and would like to share your achievements, let us know and we can feature you in an upcoming newsletter. We look forward to hearing about your success on and off the court! Adelie Wilson Tournament win – Dec 27- 28 – Level 5, Girls 18&U, Arrowhead Lucas Davis Tournament win – Mar 17-19 – Level 6, Boys 18&U, Elevate Fitness Liverpool Tournament win – Mar 3-5 – Level 5 Boys 14&U, Village Glen Tyler Davis Tournament won – Mar 17-19 – Level 6, Boys 14&U, Elevate Fitness, Liverpool |
