November News!

Hi All!

It’s November. Is it me, or is this year flying? My publishing life is beginning to ramp up. Lots happened in October which I can’t wait to share with you.

In All That is Sacred news, I finished line edits. This is a milestone for sure and one that I have a lot of feelings about. It marks the last opportunity for me to make changes to my book. I’ve been zhuzhing (revising & editing) for the better part of the last five years. And it’s done. Finished. I can tell you as a writer, nothing ever feels done. Long after I’ve published a poem, I read it and think, “This word would have been better here…” This novel is no exception even though I’ve worked with four editors to get to this stage. I’m still thinking about what I could have added, but I have to remind myself to move on to the next step–the next book. So, while I'm excited for the next stages in the process, it’s a little bittersweet.

Speaking of next steps! My first book baby is on Goodreads. I’ve had this app as a reader for ten years; all the while I thought, “It sure would be nice to see my book on here one day.” One day is now. I would surely appreciate for you to go there, if you are a member, and click “want to read” my book. I’ve been told that it makes a difference to their algorithm and who sees it as a result.

In other publishing news, I read and approved the proof of my occasional essay (a short piece of nonfiction) “Living in a Five Pounds of Sugar,” in the anthology Smoke, Blokes and Jokes of Foggy Town London, published by Red Penguin Books, which should be released very soon. I’ll certainly post on social media when it is.

I’m eagerly awaiting content edits from Red Adept Publishing for my second novel, Of Lies and Honey, which is a multiple POV novel through the perspectives of three women, separated by time and place, consumed by their dreams of motherhood who discover a secret that could bond them forever or tear them apart. I’m excited to dig into this.

Check out my recommendations on “Books for the Road,” a show hosted by Julie Valerie, author of Holly Banks Full of Angst and The Peculiar Fate of Holly Banks in her Village of Prim series. I had a great time sharing my three reading recommendations and a bit about my own book, too.

Also, check out my interview with Mary Helen Sheriff, author of Boop and Eve's Road Trip, on The Bookish Road trip site. I had a great time talking about my book, my publishing journey and why I joined The Bookish Road Trip as a tour guide.

Last, but certainly not least, I accomplished another milestone. My family and I visited Disney World at the beginning of October. While it wasn’t a relaxing vacation, it was fun. The milestone I hit was that I was there the first year it opened, for the 25th anniversary and, now, this year for the 50th. If you want to hear more about my trip, check out the latest blog post on my website: “Milestones: Disney and Writing.”

That's all for now. Thank you for your continued support. Have a wonderful November and a Happy Thanksgiving.

Until next time...
