Dear Seabird Parents,

Starting October 1st, Seabird will have new operating hours: 7:30am-5:30pm. We are trying to accommodate the needs of those returning to office work.

If you know of someone looking for a preschool for their child, please refer us! We would highly appreciate your support in spreading the word out.

Back to School Night- October 7

Seabird will be closed at noon on Friday, October 7th so teachers can prepare the room and record a video on what children have worked on so far and what goals are set for the upcoming school year. The video will be shared with our families the same day. If you don’t receive the video by the end of the day 10/7, please reach out to Angela at angela@seabirdpreschool.com

North Beach Farmers Market - October 8

Saturday, October 8th, Seabird will have a booth at the North Beach Farmers Market from 9am-1pm. Please come join us!

Italian Heritage Parade - October 9

Sunday, October 9th, Seabird will participate in the Italian Heritage Parade in North Beach. We invite all our students to join us for such a fun event and support the school. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Mei (director@seabirdpreschool.com ) or Yulia (admin@seabirdpreschool.com).

Potluck day - October 17

Sunday, October 16th marks the World Food Day, so on Monday, October 17, we would celebrate by having a potluck at school. We ask all families to bring in a dish that represents your family’s culture and background. Make sure to have enough for 12 children to taste each dish. Along with the dish, send a little story with the meaning behind the dish, so we can share with others during circle time.

All the food will be served during lunch that day. Please label each dish with its ingredients and keep in mind that nuts/peanuts are not allowed in our school. If you are worried about your child not eating at potluck, feel free to pack regular lunch for your child just in case.

Earthquake/Fire drill - October 18

We are having our monthly earthquake/fire drill on Tuesday, October 18th.

Please drop off your child by 9am that day.

Halloween

On Monday, October 31st we will have a Halloween party along with a mini-parade and in-house trick or treating. Children can wear their costumes but we ask that there are no masks, loose articles, weapons, or costumes that limit their day to day play and personal needs. Seabird is also not responsible for keeping the costume in its original state.

Parents who opt to bring treats for the class may do so. We will distribute those treats and send them home so parents can decide if their kids can have them.

Class Wishlist

Please check the teacher's wish list on our website www.seabirdpreschool.com/donate We would appreciate donations to purchase the remaining items.

Thank you for all your support.

Happy October Birthday

Topic of the Month

Embracing Culture

Bay Area prides itself for being a home for people from all over the world. The diversified culture that is all around us is what makes us unique. At Seabird, we want children to be proud of who they are and want to encourage parents to teach their children to share what is important to your culture. Sharing music, dance, stories, photos, and food are great ways young children can share their culture. This allows children to be proud and confident of who they are and enrich those around them. We want to let children know that each person is unique in their own way, but they may also learn that they share many similarities.

Just like adults, children are more willing to embrace the beauty of those who are different from ourselves when they have some knowledge and understanding of that other culture. With your help and first hand experience, children can learn more about diversity. If you are interested in sharing something with us so we share it at circle time with the children, please reach out to your classroom teacher on Brightwheel and let them know how they can support you in sharing the information accurately. We look forward to this throughout the year.
