JULY SHOUTOUT

LET'S TALK ABOUT SUMMER WELLNESS

My 5 S's of Summer Wellness: What Are Yours?

It’s here… Summertime!  Schedules can be wonky and more chaotic in summer, so squeezing in moments of self-care, extra sunshine, and some movement become more strategic when mixed in between more family time, vacations, and work time looking different.

One thing I have learned about my own wellness is that data doesn’t lie and, while I don’t track everything like so many people do through wearables and various technologies, I do love to track a few things. In order to improve my habits and mindsets, here are my 5 S’s of Summer Wellness:  Sustenance, Spirit, Stretching, Strain, and Sleep. I encourage you to come up with a simple list of areas for yourself where you are looking to up your game or just try to stay on track. It always looks different when it’s in front of you on a sheet of paper rather than just in your head. On paper, you’re much more likely to actually make some solid tracks because you can see when and where you went off track and then make adjustments to regain your structure.

In addition to the three things I'm doing this summer (see below), I encourage you to read this Verywell article. It has some simple yet powerful ideas we can do this summer to set healthy goals.

As for me, I’m looking forward to a few weeks away (some of it TOTALLY unplugged) and some of it getting caught up in areas that are hard to get to during the hustle and bustle of my life as a working mama. Whatever you’re doing this summer, I encourage you to take time to rejuvenate and replenish your own batteries. I’ll be back in August with some new fresh ideas—until then, wear your sunscreen and savor the moments!

3 Things To Do This Summer

Even before Covid, we were living in an online world, but then—Covid! We legit had to move everything online to connect, buy groceries, exercise, watch movies, work, have dinner delivered... Need I go on? Therefore, if you're like me, chances are you've racked up a lot of online service subscriptions. I suggest taking a moment to audit your online subscriptions. What do you still need? 3: Stop Ruminating

Overthinking… we all do it, but what gets you there  is important to understand if you’re going to stop doing it.

This How to Stop Overthinking article was a great read. As an obsessive planner (as they talk about) myself, I especially appreciated the part about understanding your trigger thoughts and what you can do when overthinking is overtaking aspects of your life.

I hope it resonates with you and feel free to share with someone that it might.
