Inaugural Circle Assembly

School Circles are not new, in fact, there is a film about them!  The Anti-racism, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee of the KC Sudbury School will host critical discussions about this film and seek to illuminate how our school and our country would benefit from similar approaches woven into our community practice of antiracism and restoration. This is a free event, but space is limited. We have a few in-person, physically distant, tickets for seats in our Rainbow Room, and plenty of Zoom tickets.  This film will be an excellent way to learn more about the KC Sudbury School's vision and mission for democratic education that is rooted in equity, freedom, and reality.

The KC Sudbury School seeks to formalize our community support network through the establishment of our Circle Assembly, a group of stakeholders who are inspired by our vision and committed to supporting our mission. The Circle Assembly is a yearly gathering of the KCSS Board of Directors, Advisory Council Members, Parent Circle, Youth Circle, KC Timebank Partner Organization Representatives, Committee Members, and anyone else who has expressed interest and been elected to join our cause.

Many organizations have general assemblies that function as a think tank of sorts. Gathering together to discuss, debate, and make recommendations on subjects pertaining to the governance and business of the organization. This is an essential part of our community education work. If you are interested in learning more about our Circle Assembly please email us at info@kcsudburyschool.org

Our inaugural Circle Assembly will take place in early February, Date & Time TBD.

Equity | Freedom | Reality

Equity: We value equitable multi-cultural representation, access, and economics in meeting the unique needs of our community.

Freedom: We value liberated learning experiences that foster play, critical thinking, self-directed and engaged scholarship in our community.

Reality: We value the truth and real-life contexts of our community members. We value people as they are and seek to build our collective capacity for learning in every moment.

Kansas City Sudbury School has a healing-centered approach to

self-directed lifelong learning in community.
