But who is thinking about Vancouver Island in its entirety? Sustainability thinking and practice has a great deal to do with scale, and an important scale that is missed is that represented by the ‘blue boundary’, the fact that we are on an island in the ocean. |

Tree Cycling Tour Sunday, September 22 Hop on your bike and learn about how trees and tree canopies help our cities to survive and thrive. The Community Trees Matter Network, Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition, City of Victoria Parks and District of Oak Bay Parks invite you to take part in a Tree Bike Tour on Sunday, September 22nd. |

Two Tours are available: 8km or 15km. Participants must register for the Tour of their choice. Each Tour will be guided by municipal arborists through Victoria and Oak Bay. Arborists will focus on a wide variety of topics related to the trees in our urban forest. Registration is required to attend. The 15km tour departs at 10am. The 8km departs at 10:30am. By donation ($10+). Donations will be accepted before the start of the ride. |

Garry Oak Trees & Their Habitat: How we Can Aid in the Recovery of the Endangered Ecosystems Wednesday, September 25, 7 pm Church of Truth Community of Conscious Living, 111 Superior St. Patricia Johnston, retired Native Plant Gardening Consultant and Community Trees Matter Network member, will speak on Garry oak trees and the native plants that are part of the ecosystems. By learning about Garry oak ecosystems and their plants, as well as how to grow them in our gardens, we contribute to the recovery of fragmented ecosystems. |
