NEWS FROM DR. REID

Dear St. Patrick Families,

Check out our fourth and second grade prayer partners sharing personal narratives and practicing their math facts!

Although the Cathedral is undergoing renovations and the chapel is set up for us to have Mass, we were informed that there may be some Fridays when we are all able to attend Mass in the Cathedral. We will not know the specific Friday until that morning. I have asked that we remain consistent, and students wear their Mass uniform every Friday, regardless of whether or not they have PE. We do not have uniforms for students to borrow and change into. Wearing our Mass uniform shows respect for God and for God's place of worship. Please ensure that your child is in his/her Mass uniform every Friday.

We will have our Christmas Concert this year. We are working on the logistics and will send you the musical selection your child should practice and know for the concert soon.

As we are back to “normal” there are opportunities to volunteer in the building. If you are volunteering, you MUST be up to date on your Protecting God’s Children (PGC) bulletins. In addition to Protecting God’s Children, you must have a background check (good for 5 years). If your background check has expired or if you are not up to date on PGC, and show up to volunteer, you will not be allowed to volunteer. This includes anyone who will volunteer as a basketball coach. Please take the time to read the PGC bulletins, that are sent monthly to your email, this is a school safety concern and is MACS policy.

It was wonderful seeing all the families, friends, and teachers at the Buddy Walk to support our Matthew Morgan students. We are all team Maddie, Mariah, and Miller!

Reminder, we have early dismissal tomorrow, Friday, October 21st at 11:30am and there is no after school.

Report cards will go home with students on Thursday, October 27th.

Blessings,

Dr. Alicia Reid

Please take a moment to look at our map and instructions for carpool. Carpool runs in this pattern both in the am and pm. Cars should not enter the parking lot from Buchanan or Waverly, enter through Pierce.

WALKER DISMISSAL PROCEDURE

If your child will be a walker this year at any point, be sure to select "walker" as one of the options on our Online Form (below).  This form states that your family must live within walking distance of the school (no more than 1 mile away) and as parents you understand that your child will be escorted out of the building and expected to walk home without supervision. For safety reasons we will not allow students to be walkers if you do not live within a reasonable walking distance of the school, no more than one mile.

Walkers will still continue to enter the gym in the morning as in years past. In the afternoon, walkers will be released out the door nearest the first grade classrooms which exits near the Family Life Center. A staff member will walk students to the Family Life Center area at which point they will continue to walk home.  If a parent will meet the child to walk with them, they should plan to meet their child on the sidewalk between the church rectory and the Family Life Center. Families will not be permitted to play on the playground after school due to carpool traffic.  Parking is not permitted in the rectory parking lot under any circumstance.

BIRTHDAY TREATS

Students are permitted to bring in store-bought (not homemade) treats to celebrate their birthdays with their class during lunch. Families have the option to purchase ice cream from the cafeteria for the birthday boy/girl and/or for the whole class to celebrate a birthday. Ice cream orders must be placed with Mrs. Loeber, the cafeteria manager, at least one week prior to the date to ensure enough ice cream is available for the class to participate. Mrs. Loeber can be reached via email at ejloeber@stpatrickschool.net.

REPORTING PROCEDURES

Everyone has a role to play in protecting children. North Carolina law requires all adults to immediately report suspected child abuse by anyone to law enforcement agencies. If you know or suspect that a minor (person under 18) has been abused, please call 9-1-1 or contact local law enforcement.

Also, if you have information about possible sexual abuse or misconduct by any clergy, employee or volunteer of the Diocese of Charlotte, report concerns securely and anonymously 24/7 over the phone or online: 1-888-630-5929 or www.RedFlagReporting.com/RCDOC.
