The full Saguaro Set

Hello all you stunning subscribers and welcome to my October newsletter. Autumn is well and truly here, but I was excited to finish and wear the full Saguaro Set once before it went into hibernation. And lucky me, it was in Barcelona 😎

My MingMakesMistakes review post (5 min read) is now out with details of my construction process including some tips on dealing with the waistband gathering, my mistake on the bias binding and how I solved the trumpet sleeve issue.

It also links into my fitting post (5 min read), which contains photos of my toiles and the adjustments I made to the shoulder seam. The photo below shows the new shape of the shoulder against the original horizontal seam. It looks an odd shape but it did the trick of removing a lot of excess fabric.

Something a bit different

A couple of weekends ago, I had a 1-2-1 workshop with the lovely Lauren Holloway to make this beautiful washbag. I had never made a bag before, but Lauren guided me patiently and I was so thrilled with the result. It is waterproof using wax canvas fabric, with a zip closure and two large pockets at the front in the most gorgeous Japanese fabric. It was great to try something new, and I may be tempted to try something more adventurous in the future.
