WORCS LAKE HAVASU

&

DIRT DIGGERS D37

MARCH 26-28

Lake Havasu, AZ (March 26-28, 2021) - The weekend kicked off with Friday Practice for all classes; the layout and weather made for an incredible 3rd round of racing. All of our riders were excited to race and felt very confident about the track. With the temps being in the 80s most of the weekend it was important to play off of better hydration.

Tyler Lynn ended up twisting his knee in pro practice and struggled to ride all weekend. He would end his weekend only finishing 3 laps of the pro race on Sunday. Ava Silvestri put on a strong ride finishing 3rd just behind 2nd place. Mason battled hard the entire race, but would only find himself in the 6th place spot by the end. Caitlyn Kurtz finished a strong 3rd place after taking a rock to the shoulder during Fridays practice. Seeds had a flawless race going leading the entire thing until he ran out of gas. We had an issue with our check valve on the overflow that allowed gas to pour out. We will have the part fixed and ready for the next round.

Nick Burson also raced this weekend at the D37 desert racing round finishing on the top spot leading start to finish. A flawless ride for nick was exactly what he needed after coming back from his ACL injury!

NICK BURSON

1ST

PRO

Nick Burson finally made it back on top at the District 37 event after a long journey back from his ACL injury. Being a full time dad, husband, employee, and professional racer; he is an inspiration to say the least for many riders in his position. Hard work and dedication in every area of his life has put him back where he deserves to be.

In his words: "This weekend was the 75th annual Dirt Diggers District 37 Desert Race.  It was a desert scrambles format with one 37mile loop that we would do twice.  It was super dusty so I knew that the start would be very important.  When the banner dropped my bike fired up quickly and I got a great jump on everyone around me.  Coming up over the first hill with the lead I knew that I just made my day a lot easier but tried to keep the pace up to get a gap built up. I dealt with a little bit of arm pump for the first half of the loop but just kept a good pace and came into the pits with about a minute lead.  Grabbed some goggles from my Wife and Gas from my dad and was back out for one more loop. My arms were feeling a lot better so I tried to up my pace to get in some good practice for the next upcoming races.  The 2nd loop I felt a lot better and extended my lead. Coming into the finish first overall and without any mistakes!  It felt good to get another D37 win and have a race with no issues. Looking forward to racing again in just a few weeks!"

MASON OTTERSBERG

6TH

PRO 250

Ottersberg had a tuff weekend. He rode exceptionally well, but did not place himself in the right place at the right times. He suffered from a couple of issues early on that set him back for the rest of the race. He charged hard from 10th back to 6th by the end almost catching the 5th place rider until a lapped rider decided to race mason in the closing laps busting out his goggle lens forcing mason to back off the pace to avoid any eye damage from the rocks being roosted up.

In his words: "Pretty disappointed in my race. I know I am better than what I provided for results and its always tuff to swallow these kinds of outcomes. Never the less I will be ready and motivated for the next round."

TYLER LYNN

DNF

  PRO

Lynn was on track to have a good weekend until he injured his knee during practice. He fought through it all weekend to try and make it happen during the pro race, but after completing 3 laps during the pro race he had to pull off. He is going to get checked out and see if he will be back for the next round.

In his words: "Rough time out in havasu this weekend for Worcs racing!! Friday during practice I tweaked my knee and couldn’t even stand on it for the remainder of the day! After a lot of ice I was finally able to walk around a bit and it started feeling better quickly!! I took it easy so I would be able to race the 2 hour pro race Sunday! Sunday’s race started off really good and my knee surprisingly wasn’t affecting me too much. I started making my way through the pack when I had dabbed my foot on the ground and re twisted my knee and instantly couldn’t ride on it. I had to pull off and call it a day so I wouldn’t do anymore damage to it!! We will be back in two weeks ready race!"

JUSTIN SEEDS

3RD

VET PRO

Seeds put a clinic on for the vet pro race leading most of it wire to wire until he ran out of gas with a lap to go. We discovered his check valve malfunctioned on the overflow and was allowing extra gas to leak out. He still finished 3rd and also helped us discover a problem we can avoid in the future.

In his words: "Started off the race with a little battle with Robby until unfortunately he crashed. After running over his bike I looked to make sure he was good. Once in the lead I was able to flow around the wonderful havasu race track and got my self a comfortable lead until running out of gas. It definitely sucked but we are already working on the problem and getting ready for the next race."

AVA SILVESTRI

3RD

WOMEN'S PRO

Silvestri was really close to making it to a well earned second place, but just didn't get it done after coming together with the second place rider. She got a lot of learning experience from this round and looks to build on that for the next round.

In her words: "3rd once again on the weekend out at Havasu. I’ve been putting in the work the last 2 weeks so I was super excited coming into this round to see my progression and it definitely paid off. I was riding super well and flowing with the track amazingly despite how rough it was. Battling for second majority of the race and with about 4 laps to go I went to go make the pass and unfortunately collided with the rider and ended up going over the bars. Settled for another 3rd due to my own lack of being able to get back into a flow and push for the last couple laps. Still super happy with the progress that’s been made and the confidence being gained."

CAITLYN KURTZ

3RD

WOMEN'S A

Kurtz had a great weekend persevering through some shoulder pain she got from a rock that hit her from roost during Friday practice. She pushed hard to finish on the box and showed how tuff she truly is.

In her words: "Round three of Worcs at Havasu was another gnarly round. With taking a rock to the shoulder during moto practice on Friday that caused me some pain and mobility issues, I was nervous for the race on Saturday. I had a great start however I fell back to fourth on the first lap when me and another girl in my class crashed along the lake shore. It was a fun race over all and full of battles. My shoulder was still hurting from the previous day but I pushed and left it all out on the track and finished third in the Women’s A class!"
