"A scrumptious full sound surrounded by smooth, velvety vocals bound together by some of Wellingtons most outstanding conveyors of funky-jazzy musical brilliance." Corrine R - Muzic.net.nz
"that ass-kicking brassy funk they're known for, and do so well, is still front and centre. Part of their charm is that every band member is heard and How Humans Think is a reflection of that, with a wonderful mix of thoughtful ballads and irrepressible dance tunes offering wry observations on life." Claire Symonds

"How Humans Think captures a group at the top of their game. There’s something for everyone to enjoy here- pop, funk, Broadway and sensitive ballads, all wrapped in beautiful album art. Nice work, gang!"

I think this is her best pop/funk/jazz offering to date. It takes years for a passionate artist/musician/song writer to gather around them an outfit who shares their vision while having their own virtuosity shining through the music. It not only takes a great muso to do this but an astute band manager with vision and respect. So Ahi and I are a bit biased because Julie did use a composition of Renata's in one of her earlier albums. Like Julie, Renata knows how poetry melds beautifully with music. It's this unquantifiable, intangible element that makes great art. Something these guys have. Mark Cross, Artist/Westie
