The Pollinator Times

Happy Earth Mother Day!

What gift can we give to the body that sustains each of us .... and all life?
Perhaps
Anthony's gift to his birth mother - and his Earth mother -
will be an inspiration for all of us, no matter where we live.

A Big Buzzing Welcome to Kyle!

We are thrilled to share our warm welcome to new board member, Kyle Poling!

Some of you have had the pleasure of attending one (or more) of Kyle's classes about native plants, and know what a wealth of knowledge and experience

he brings to his passion for native plants and pollinators.  We look forward to working with Kyle and expanding our educational efforts in these areas.

Oregon Sunshine!

It's not just the weather that is beautiful at this time of year!
Enjoy this first video about the native pollinator plants in our Office Garden.

Much gratitude to Wanda Borland for working with us to capture the beauty of Oregon Sunshine, the perfect plant for every dry, sunny garden.

Kristina and Louise Do Sheet Mulching!

This quick and fun little project at our office transformed an area
with grassy grass into a sweet spot for a shade garden next year.

Watch this short little video ---- and think about where you can
use this technique in your landscape!
Thank you, Wanda Borland for coming by to film us, and
thanks so much, Louise Zeringue, for helping with this project, and more!

With two mentions in this one newsletter, we certainly want to focus

Worried About the Hornets?! Don't Bee!

We just had to share this blog by Ruby Reid, co-owner of Valhalla Organics
and excellent PPRV Board Member.
Ruby is right - there is no need to freak out!
"Calling this insect a “murder hornet,” a moniker that has come up seemingly overnight, is really inaccurate and unnecessary."
There have been NO sightings in S. Oregon!  And besides, 2 inches is quite large! Please do not confuse a bumblebee or a 'normal' wasp with this insect
that most of us will never see!

Pollinators' Pick

Rachel Carson is one of our sheroes.
Enjoy this
5 minute animation about her life and work to reduce
pesticide use and make the planet a better and safer place for all creatures.

(A great choice for Mother's Day, right!?)

Please Support Our Work!

We will continue work to inspire, educate, and advocate for the pollinators
and beneficial insects who pollinate the nutritious food crops we enjoy every day, and the trees, shrubs, and flowers that beautify our Valley in so many ways.
We are grateful for your encouragement and support, and invite you to
make a financial contribution -
$3 or $3,000, it helps us get the work done.
Thank you!
