May 2018

What happened to the April newsletter you may be asking yourself? But if you are anything like most of us, life is just getting busier and busier especially if you live in the kiwifruit capital of the world at the moment. So, here is a short summary of what's been happening since the last newsletter and what we've got on the events calendar for the rest of the year.  Enjoy.

Simply Short Play Festival

This was very successful and we will definitely be looking at doing something similar again in the future.

One of the aims of the festival was to provide the opportunity for people to give directing and/or acting a go and we are delighted to say we had 4 first time directors: Ann Jones, Brenda Cooke, Colleen Pye and Norma Carney and 7 first time actors: Angie Belcher, Bridget Crawford, David Reid, Grant Dally, Jane Best, Marama Moka & Matt Cooke. Many thanks to the 15 playwrights who submitted their plays.  Whilst most of the plays were submitted by BOP people we also had plays from USA and Australia, Auckland and Wellington.  The power of social platforms!!
