Save the Date

Make sure to save the date for this year's Pearls of Wisdom luncheon/auction/fashion show
Sept. 15, 2018. We have begun planning this month, watch for more information in June.

Dear members and friends of NCBWL,

As we enjoy spring which appears to be finally here to stay, we have been very active in our recent events and planning upcoming meetings. The Board and I are so very grateful to the team that worked on the Business Expo held on Wednesday, April 18. In particular, Dee Stoffer had the vision and was successful as usual making it happen. Please see below for more exciting details and outcomes. I personally was thrilled with the number of guests that joined us from many different parishes thanks to the amazing publicity leadership that Barbara Esteves-Moore and Lisa Link provided for us. Such great exposure for us. See more of Lisa's photos on our Facebook page.

Teri Gordon, First VP managed our presence and participation at the Catholic Charities Annual fundraising breakfast event last Friday, May 4. As a Bronze Sponsor, NCBWL expressed our support of their important mission for our Diocese. Thank you to Teri and those members that were able to attend including, Kathleen Pohlid, immediate past president and her husband, Roman Pohlid.

On Tuesday, May 22, we will have a kickoff meeting for our 2018 Luncheon/Auction/Fashion Show scheduled for Saturday, September 15 back at Richland Country Club. If you’re interested in joining us in planning this exciting event, helping to solicit auction items, or assisting the day of the event, please email me at da.lassiter@yahoo.com for more information.

If you have feedback to offer on the Business Expo event, and/or we can assist you in any way with your active involvement in our mission, please email or call me, a board member as you wish. Meanwhile, I hope you’re enjoying this beautiful weather. Also, I wish you each a HAPPY and peaceful Mother’s Day. As our dear Father Fleming used to say every year at Mass on Mother’s Day, "everyone here either is a mother, or has a mother" (on Earth or in heaven.)

With gratitude and prayers,

Debbie Lassiter

June Meeting

Father Dan Reehill will be speaking to NCBWL in June. Father Dan is a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Nashville ordained on July 26, 2014. After years of working in the corporate world of banking, finance, marketing and corporate communicates, Father Reehil felt a sense of unrest with the secular lifestyle he was living in Manhattan. During a pilgrimage to Medjugorje he experienced a deep conversion at the hands of Our Lady, Queen of Peace. He will talk about his journey during our June meeting.

We are also excited to have Laura Boulay with One Million Women Walking with us in July.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: LISA LINK

Lisa Link has a photographer’s eye, a teacher’s heart and business woman’s mind. Those characteristics led her to launch her business, Keepsake Portraits by Lisa, in 2014.

“I got the photography bug and my first good camera from my mom and eventually took over her title of official family photographer,” Lisa said of her introduction to photography. But her career began in the classroom not in the dark room.
