Wow! It’s December already? It’s hard to believe we are coming up on the last several days of the year. Things have been hopping for me and Blood Memory Society. The hardcopy of my novel launched on September 23 and was well received. The trade paperback version launched a month later and has been a brisk seller at several stops on my tour as well as through online sellers. At one point 2 weeks ago, we breached the top 100 thrillers! I am incredibly grateful to all of you who purchased a copy. It’s an amazing feeling to know that my story is making waves among the sea of books.
Did you know there is a Blood Memory cocktail? The wonderful folks at Page & Palette Bookstore in Fairhope, AL served it during my stop there last week. Winston, the bartender, concocted an amazing drink that was a big hit and helped provoke an interesting discussion about memories and déjà vu. It was an entertaining evening that I will never forget.
I’m thrilled to announce that we just launched the E-book version of Blood Memory Society. Although I still love the feel of a printed and bound book in my hands, it is definitely a digital world out there that tens of thousands of readers prefer. For those of you who read on Nook, Kindle, iPad or other tablets, Blood Memory Society is now available in all formats through your favorite sellers.
While I’ve been hard at work promoting Book I of the series, I’ve also been putting the final touches on Book II. In fact, I’m headed to Cuba for some essential on-site research for the book. Though the story is fiction, I prefer that all of the locales I describe in my books to be authentic and for my readers to be able to feel the culture.
Just like the Keys and the Bahamas and the Mississippi River, I get inspired by my surroundings and visiting this Caribbean island nation with its sugar-white beaches and expansive tobacco fields is sure to create some animated scenes in Will Dunbar’s next escapades. Who knows, perhaps a cave deep in the interior of Cuba will make its way into the story as well as some of the 1950s-era cars and the 16th-century Spanish-colonial architecture of Old Havana…It remains to be seen what young Dr. Will gets himself into.
You can follow me on Facebook to keep up with my stops as I travel to this land whose name “Cuba” may be translated as “where fertile land is abundant.”
In the meantime, I hope to see you at one of my December stops.
Carla and I wish you and your family a safe and cheerful holiday season,
Warmest wishes,
Darryl
