Authenticity
A reasonable standard to expect from yourself and from those around you.
An alternative title would be “No one is your guru”. I’ve had an array of teachers throughout my spiritual journey and I treasure all the wisdom and experiences I gained from each and every one of them. They all had their unique blend of offerings which I took on board, but their biggest teaching was helping me discover who I was, discover I have a higher self, a soul self, and discover my own innate power in accessing natural abilities (which we all have) and just really giving me the space to allow my light to come out and shine. Over time, they helped me gain confidence in my abilities as well as the courage to then become a teacher in turn, to aid others, as I have benefited.
I continue to learn from my human counterparts, and also from my spiritual team (which we all have). The awareness and awakening to my team was one of my biggest takeaways from my studies but an equally profound learning was realizing my personal responsibility in co-creating my reality. You’ve already heard me go on about this a lot, but once again, our thoughts, words, actions and feelings are powerful. While I learnt a clear quartz crystal helps with connection during meditation, I still needed to clear my energy and chakras, and control my thoughts to have an effective meditation.
My point is, be discerning in where you put your attention and energy. You are a sovereign being who knows what is best for yourself, deep inside, you are your greatest teacher and healer. And the love and acceptance we yearn for doesn’t come from an external person or group, it always comes from within.
The right teachers come into our lives at the right time for us to learn, to grow, to expand, and then we have the ability to take what we’ve learnt and adapt it to our own unique identity and energy.
For movie buffs, there is a fun documentary called Kumare about a man who pretended he was a guru and built a following before revealing his true identity.
