For the past 5 years, Iraq has been trying to recover from the ISIS invasion, occupation, and subsequent liberation from war. During that period, international organizations have focused on infrastructure and basic needs, such as roads, water systems, and electricity. However other basic living needs were never brought back, such as a livelihood or social life. We saw how after the first year of hosting the Shlama Football League we were able to restore social interaction, increase physical activities, provide freelance livelihood jobs, improve mental health, and bridge the Suraye Youth to various villages.
