All the Sacred Scriptures say things like “A Wise Man/Woman is the one that can be at peace while there is chaos all around”... and many scholars have proposed various ways to achieve this.
Some claim that the Key is to ‘not care’ [my words: not give a damn]... Well, this feels a little harsh.
After all, one of the most important injunctions [for everyone !] is to make the world a better place, so I would argue that ‘not caring’ [“It’s not my job, Jack”] is basically declaring that the person has little or no ‘humanness’ within them; and in fact they would fall in the category of parasites, quite happy to suck the life out the situation without taking responsibility for the consequences they’re creating.
You think I’m being too hard on them ?
They are the exploiters, abusers, pimps and violators of this world, who have sold their souls to selfish ego, status, and the great Mighty Dollar... and to them I have a simple word to say - “Karma” [it’s a bitch...and then you’re born !]
So if not caring doesn’t work, how else can we find this elusive Inner Peace ?
Mainstream would have you spend much time in Meditation... and while this may work [for some] let me be clear - here we’re talking about the true and proper Dhyana, that blissful state of ‘empty-mind’ where no-thought occurs [and not the playful ‘guided meditation’ that we so often engage in].
So if you can achieve this [no easy feat], kudos to you... for the rest of us mortals we still have to find a different way.
And for those of you who absolutely loooove the Path of the Heart, let me caution you that your very compassion, sweet and valuable as it is, will make your search for Inner Peace even more difficult [not impossible, but difficult... you simply ‘care too much’ - great for healers and care takers... challenging for living in this world].
And just to be equable, if you’re dedicated to the Path of the Mind, then ‘duality’ is your greatest challenge... for you need to first get rid of ‘emotional perception’ [like-dislike values] before you can truly access the higher mind [well, good luck with that... how many people in history have been able to be that neutral in their perceptions ?!!]
So...what’s the answer ?
Easy - it’s you ! Well, not as the solution [though we’ll get to that], but rather as the ‘problem’.
No, I’m not crazy [well, not clinically anyway]... let me explain.
The challenge to achieving ‘Inner Peace’ is that we are too caught up by certain thoughts / words / situation ... especially those we find offensive / abusive / unfair.
And so we should ! Indeed, we must be triggered by such putrid behaviors... how else would we be so offended that we have to do something about it !! [remember - ‘making the world a better place’.]
This hot, reactive, fiery passion is the very fuel we need to burn through these fetid energies, and create the positive changes that will sustain Life... but ... this does not lead you to Inner Peace.
Here is the Key - Every time you’re upset, hurt and offended by some idiotic self-serving propaganda, don’t try to change how you feel. Rather, center in, go within these strong emotions, and ask yourself - Why ?
Why am I feeling this way ? What has triggered me ? How do I appropriately release this fire ? What am I being called to do ... or support others who are able to do ? As I am dedicated to this Path of Light, what is Correct Action ?”
This will work in releasing your internal tension... You may need to repeat this a few times, but eventually you will achieve a State of Clarity, one where you’ll know what to do, and how to do it correctly [still according to the Path !]... and now... you’ll be at Peace [Ahh... ‘Peace’ is not found in empty stillness, but in centered action !]
We all walk the same Path, my beloved Brothers and Sisters - it’s a journey... enjoy the experience. Namaste...
