Hello FDDR family,
Welcome to our Newsletter #8
Sadly on Saturday 3/29 Facebook put restrictions on our FB page for a week, we are growing thanks to the hard work from all of you, this shows how important sharing the live feed and page with others is.
Spreading awareness is crucial for FDDR to be able to help our extended family on the streets, and since we are restricted FB does not share our posts! why we ask you to share our FB-page with others: www.facebook.com/feedingDetroitanddownriver from there you can access our live feed. FDDR goes out six days a week, Monday to Saturday. The normal time for our live feeds is around 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM EST.
You can also find all the latest info and links on our main site www.FDDR.org
FDDR and COVID-19
To combat the spread of COVID-19 in Michigan, Governor Whitmer signed the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order. For at least the next three weeks, all Michigan businesses and operations must temporarily suspend in-person operations that are not necessary to sustain or protect life, and all Michiganders must stay in their homes unless they’re a part of that critical infrastructure workforce, engaged in an outdoor activity, or performing tasks necessary to the health and safety of themselves or their family, like going to the hospital or grocery store.
As a Non-Profit Charity, we are allowed to go out and serve the homeless and hungry!
As the pandemic unfolds, it’s imperative we do all we can to protect ourselves, our families and, those with low incomes, or anyone lacking support and a safety net or does not have a home.
For many, FDDR is their only source of food, their single source of survival.
Hunger does not take a break at times like this.
How bad would our hearts feel if we stopped serving the people? We have to feed them because people need this help, this bag of food to survive.
There is no time like the present.
We are activating emergency plans. FDDR operates on a shoestring, and now we face dramatically increased demand, plus we need more volunteers who cook.
A significant challenge is how to maintain services at a time when demand for emergency food aid is ever increasing. Even before the virus arrived, we were preparing for a possible surge in need stemming from planned cuts to federal food stamps and layoffs.
We work long hours every day to bring more food assistance to where it is needed most.
Every day we are pressed to find the surplus food, funds, and labor to maintain our food delivery.
FDDR needs your help now more than ever to fight the threats of hunger and pandemic.
Please — don’t wait until it’s too late. None of this can happen without the generosity of FDDR’s supporters. Please consider donating today.

We want to thank all of you for your support these last few weeks. You are the reason we can do what we do, and it is an honor to serve our extended family six days a week.
We may periodically limit the quantity on certain items like clothing to ensure more people have access to the service they need.
Serving food is our #1 priority, and we will do whatever it takes to make sure it is safe for all.
Thank you very, very much
Mat, Rose & Dina
