Our mission is to mentor and support first-generation
students for college success.

To the Campus Bound Scholars Community:

This update is to let you know we are actively engaged with our first-generation college students during the current COVID-19 crisis. Most colleges in the US have now moved to a virtual setting, with classes, sports, and campus events cancelled. These precautions are greatly impacting our Campus Bound Scholars, who are confused and disappointed as they figure out next steps. Do they stay on campuses that remain open while holding virtual classes, or head home? How will they pay to travel home and where will they store the dorm items they leave behind? With a number of students from southern Westchester including New Rochelle, the question of how best to consider the safety of other family members is also complicated.

We want you to know that our mentors are in close contact with their students to provide guidance and support during this difficult time. We are grateful that your support has allowed us to have a small emergency fund to help with unforeseen expenses for these vulnerable students. Please keep them and their mentors in your thoughts as we all navigate these uncharted waters together.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to further discuss how Campus Bound Scholars is responding to this crisis.

Thank you, and we wish you and your loved ones good health!

With heartfelt thanks,

The Board of Directors
