Winter Wonderland Fun is On It's Way! So here's some snowman funnies to get you started XD 
 

As we near the end of November, we start to wrap up those last few projects, get our shopping lists ready, make our holiday plans through and for winter.  Some of you might be wishing for fresh powder or snowman-making snow.. while some of us are diving into festive baking and building gingerbread creations for the annual Gingerbread Showdown and contest at the Okotoks Art Gallery! 

From right now all the way until December 9th, you can go and VOTE your favourite submission for the Gingerbread Station  SHOWDOWN!

The Okotoks Art Gallery is open Tuesdays - Saturdays: 10:00 - 5:00pmSo after you finished voting for both categories, youth and adult ;)  ...You can  snag some tickets to see the Heebee Jeebees on December 6th! They will likely sell out, so I put the link below for you:) And then for MORE fun things to do in December, you can also pick up MORE intel through my other newsletter for the Okotoks Arts Council. Since January 2021, I've been writing comprehensive newsletters for the non-profit charity  of the Okotoks Arts Council.  I designed them to feature 3 arts-based organizations and arts-based businesses exclusively every month. I am SO close to 200 subscribers now!  It's FREE and filled with fun things to do with direct hyperlinks to ticketing sites and registration pages.

The Heebee Jeebees are probably the MOST FUN acapalla  musical group of Canada and to have them back in Okotoks is nothing short of miraculous. Having released 8 albums and having won 3 international CARA awards – (the Grammys of a cappella) They have sung thousands of live performances and have appeared on local, national and international radio and television.
Oh and they hail from Calgary, and I'll be there on Wednesday night! 
So watch for the unicorn-haired weirdo singing along in the pews at the 
Rotary Performing Arts Centre!

At The Okotoks Elks Hall, a treasured community-supporting establishment, we - meaning myself, a good amount of my youth art students will be setting up a three hour 
Christmas Youth Market!!! 
My 12th one and many others' first, second, third and fourths! Two of them are students I taught as a preschool teacher, so we go WAY back. This year, the age range is between 7 and 16. There will be a lot of different works of art for you to see, all original, all made by up to 20 amazing kids, tweens and teens.
Each program has even created their very own business cards 
using the vintage art of printmaking.
 Some art will be for sale, and some will be for display. ALL of it will be there for your entertainment. But wait! That's not all...

Heaven Can Wait provides shelter, care and nourishment to abandoned, abused and homeless animals in High River and the surroundings areas. Our goal is to reach as many animals needing help as space and resources allow, have them vetted and responsibly rehome into caring environments. 

How ELSE You Can Help:)

Okotoks Pound Rescue is a registered charity devoted to helping lost and abandoned animals to either be reunited with their owners or to find new homes. As a NO KILL organization, they have over 200 animals in our care at any given time.

OUR Selfie Station pictured above for you will be set up entirely for you to take your very own selfies with festive props and my handmade giant props of art supplies. 
Be as goofy as you want! I will have volunteers there to help you out!

The animals that these animal caregivers take in really have nowhere else to go. It breaks my heart truly. I wish I could take them all in. Some of them go into foster care - to help them adjust to living with families and other dogs and cats. This is so that when we adopt them, they are ready to settle in with the right home. Donations can come in many forms... and we're taking anything you can give! NOTE: Blankets and towels don't need to be new! Pee pads for puppies and toys for kittens are inexpensive and easy to find or even make yourself. Seriously, sometimes these are the best ones. 
Gift cards to pet stores, or Dollarama's pre-loaded credit cards, cash, canned foods and kibble are deeply appreciated. To ensure that your donations land in the right places, both of these locations list specific on-going needs to get them through the holiday season :)

Misty and Me are settling into a nice schedule of walks, snuggles treats and toy time. I still have moments of sadness where I miss both Daisy and Bruiser. But Misty needed me and I needed her.
