A Message from the Executive Director
Alexi Baccardax Westcott
COINAtlantic has been in transition since out last Spring Newsletter. Last June, Christina Macdonald stepped down from the position of Executive Director at COINAtlantic and I moved from Project Officer to Executive Director. Thank-you Christina for all of your hard work! We have also welcomed two new Board Members: Dawn Roche and Mirella Leis, and a new Project Officer, Shen Molloy. See below for more about Shen as we welcome her to the team. We are now in the midst of another transition as our long time and much appreciated Finance Officer Jennifer Barr prepares to pass her position to someone new. Please see the COINAtlantic Finance Officer Opportunity and share with anyone you may think would be interested.
COINAtlantic has been a consistent voice supporting open data and information exchange to advance sustainable and integrated management of coastal and ocean spaces in Atlantic Canada for close to thirty years, in fact 2022 will mark the 30th Anniversary. We plan to continue to broaden and diversify our network, and maintain and strengthen strong working relationships with our many collaborators to further this work in the future. We plan to embark on a strategic planning process for COINAtlantic in 2022 and hope to engage with our network through this process as much as possible.
Please share this newsletter with colleagues and encourage them to sign up for COINAtlantic email communications using the form on the COINAtlantic website homepage.
We are pleased to introduce our new Project Officer, Shen Molloy. She will be managing COINAtlantic's projects, preparing and distributing the Quarterly Newsletter, and supporting the development of relationships with data providers and end-users to promote the use of CIOOS Atlantic.
