WE ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT THE ACID GIRLS ERA.
For this spiral, we will continue to study the cybernetics of Acid Girls Universe. I’m taking you back to 2019 wherein the band makes a song with lyrics based on the zine, which is based on the tru story of chilling at the beach during the climate apocalypse.
Back when I was living in Mexico City I had a friend who matched (and often surpassed) my energy, and we would hang out and go to punk shows around the city together. After a while we decided to start a band because we were sick of all the d-beat. I'm ngl, that was a huge motivator for us, and so we recruited some friends who are certified shredders, and that's how I ended up screaming in this girl band (with token guy on guitar).
The band was called ULU and it was hot! Unfortunately it was also built on chisme, which was our greatest strength yet weakness. Right before Covid hit, we were about to go on tour! The van was ready. I was so nervous. But then things fell apart, the band broke up, we wanted to get back together to record but the timing wasn't right, there were feuds, people died. Relationships ended. Lives transformed. Alice Bag got involved??? We ended up having more drama than music. Like a lot of bands, it imploded before we even took off.
Shout out to all parties involved in the making and breaking of ULU. We never recorded, but here's a pretty low quality iPhone recording from a set from band practice. We would practice at this spot that was like, totally red inside called Yoox Discos. Kinda had David Lynch vibes. ACID GIRLS is my 2nd favorite song we made.
