Ciao Wellness Friend,
I hope this e-mail finds you safe and well.
February is here and in thinking about writing this Newsletter, I'm wondering how I can best be of service. Life is hectic and many times we go on autopilot without giving a second 'thought' to the thoughts we have!
Have you ever heard of the quote "stop to smell the roses"? The metaphor being, do you know how to stop and be fully present?
With February being the month of love -focused on Valentine's Day- (let's also mention President's Day, Black History month, and Mardi Gras) I would like to like to focus on self love and most importantly its antonym self-sabotage (sometimes disguised as self hate).
Most people's brain is wired to have empathy and compassion for others. However, when it comes to having compassion for ourselves, our learned behaviors and/or physiological responses don't always have the same effect. Why? I'm not going to pretend to have the answer- Scientists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, and other researchers are also pondering on these questions.
I can simply share what I have learned through years of introspection and my newfound love (almost a year now) for Positive Intelligence. What is Positive Intelligence? Otherwise known as PQ, Positive Intelligence is a program that combines research from the disciplines of Neuroscience, Cognitive Behavioral Psychology, Positive Psychology, and Performance Science.
Basically, through understanding our Saboteurs, we can monitor our thoughts and intercept the negative thoughts and activate positive reflexes. Shirzad Chamine suggests that by shifting the balance of power in our mind, we can experience an increase in energy, focus, and peace of mind.
Using the power of PQ, we can create positive change, one day at time, and accomplish more of our goals (whether they are related to weight management or relationships) with more joy in our days. If you would like to know more about this, feel free to reach out to Caroline Kay as she's a Pro when it comes to helping individuals with their mental fitness.
Once we have some command over our thoughts and can catch "them" in action, we can understand where they're coming from, we can be kinder to ourselves, and we can take better action to effect positive change in our lives.
