We opened applications to sailors from around Australia in April this year for the Women’s and Youth Teams and received an impressive roll call of 132 athletes. After a rigorous selection process over several months, 32 athletes were shortlisted for the Sydney Trials Camp, hailing from Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland and NSW, representing 18 sailing clubs nationally. Selectors, led by patrons John Bertrand AO and John Winning, had the very challenging task of assessing the participants both on-water and off over two and a half days. This included time in the new AC40 simulator, interviews, psychometric analysis, high speed kart racing and sailing trials. A very big congratulations to all of the athletes who were selected, participated and competed. It was a gruelling few days of challenges. |

Musto & Bolle annouced as partners |
Musto has signed on as the official clothing partner and Bolle as the eyewear partner for Team Australia Challenge. Both companies are recognised globally for their technical and specialised performance gear. These partnerships will have our athletes performing at their best on the water. Musto has been providing leading egde performance apparel to the sailing industry since the 1960s and the development of the technical range of gear is accelerating as fast the boats themselves. Our squad will be wearing the very latest innovations to keep them more comfortable and with greater range of movement as they train and compete on and off the water. Musto will also be our merchandise partners, developing a range of apparel for sale to our supporters. This will include a bespoke range only for our Club members. Watch out for the launch of our shop and exciting offers in the coming months. Bolle is also a performance specialist in the sporting eyewear arena and with the boats travelling at such high speeds the need for the best eye protection and visibility is critical. |
