We opened Pearl Cleage’s new play, SOMETHING MOVING: A MEDITATION ON MAYNARD at Ford’s Theatre last week. Described by Pearl as “a poem masquerading as a play...a song masquerading as oral history...memory seated primarily in the heart,” SOMETHING MOVING focuses on the moment when a diverse group of Atlantans worked together to elect Maynard Holbrook Jackson, Jr. as the first African American mayor of a major southern city.
