Miriam Clark | Director Miriam is a professional engineer with over 14 years of experience in the Energy and Mining industries. With a background in both engineering and business, she specializes in translating between multidiscipline technical and commercial teams. Miriam sits on the core management team of Okane Consultants, a company that works to integrate responsible and sustainable mine closure practices into mine plans to achieve positive environmental and social outcomes. On weekends, you will find Miriam hiking in the mountains or buried in a book. She loves learning about new ideas and listening to people’s stories. |

Kate Koplovich | Director Born and raised in Cowtown, Kate's purpose and passion is Calgary. As an Economist with Calgary Economic Development, Kate works on Calgary's economic strategy, Calgary in the New Economy, to make Calgary the city of choice for the world's best entrepreneurs embracing technology to solve the world's greatest challenges. She is most passionate about her placemaking portfolio and its intersectionality with sustainability, innovation, and diversification of YYC's economy.
Before making the leap to Calgary Economic Development in the middle of the global pandemic, Kate worked in Deloitte's Sustainability and Climate Change team for six years supporting Canadian companies to take meaningful action on climate change and sustainability management. With Deloitte, she is most proud of her work with two household-name companies to commit to and set Science-Based Targets, and adopt supporting strategic initiatives.
Kate has an MSc in Economics and Policy of Energy and the Environment from University College London, specializing in renewable energy systems and energy economics and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Business Sustainability Management and Economics.
Outside of work Kate is an avid outdoors(wo)man and is looking forward to (and a bit daunted by) her first Half Iron (wo)Man in September 2021. Kate is also passionate about music in all its forms: choir, instruments, and musical theatre, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Choir Alberta as the Vice President, Development. |

Marissa Hansen | Communications Manager Marissa is currently a biological sciences major at the University of Calgary. Throughout her degree, she has found a passion for Ecology, Zoology, and Conservation and hopes to find a career as a zoo curator. She has a love for animals, particularly dogs, and her favorite place in the world is the zoo. She is currently working as a Communications Assistant at the University of Calgary. She is also a Jazzercise Instructor in NW Calgary, a volunteer blog/newsletter writer at the Alberta Institute of Wildlife Conservation, and an Animal Shelter volunteer for Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation. When she has spare time she likes to play soccer, watch movies and read horror novels. She also loves watching baseball and is a huge Blue Jays fan. |

Creekfest- Reimagined July 17th - July 23rd by Friends of Fish Creek Join the Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society for a week of fun for the whole family. This free family celebration of nature is a component of the Friends’ Watershed Awareness Campaign and aims to raise awareness in communities near the park about protecting our local waterways. Families can come and learn about environmental stewardship, conservation and biodiversity from local organizations and performers through online presentations and performances! There will also be an appearance from the June-Award Winning children's performer- Peter Puffin’s Whale Tales. | | |

Family Fishing Weekend July 3rd - July 4th by Battle River Watershed Alliance During the Canada Day long weekend, Battle River Watershed Alliance is inviting people to join in on some fishing fun! This is a free event which allows anyone to try fishing without a sportfishing license. You must still only fish at locations with an open fishing season, and follow all other rules To enter: - Take a photo of you or your friends/family enjoying a waterbody on this July 3/4 weekend.
