Love
Love and Compassion
February is sometimes described as the month of Love. Primarily due to Valentines day. What if we expanded the definition beyond romantic love to include feelings of love, compassion, and empathy toward ourselves and others.
Life continuously challenges us but choosing to spend time loving ourselves though self-care, self-compassion and savoring the enjoyable times reinvigorates our soul and restores our energy. When we take care of ourselves we have more energy to love and support others.
Positive Psychology research has found that compassionate behavior and self compassion buffers the impact of stress, anxiety, and depression. It helps improve survival from chronic illness, improves mortality rates in general, and is related to positive aging.
What would it be like to walk through a world filled with love and compassion. This month we invite you to show love for yourself. What would that look like ... a long shower, a walk, maybe special tea, or clearing your To Do list. How could you show love and compassion for others. One small gesture of love can cause a ripple effect in the world.
