| | Who will win Best in Show? Do you think you have what it takes? The 17th Annual Bryn Du Art Show is currently open for visual art and photography entries. You may not think you are a "professional" artist but don't let that hold you back. If you've ever wondered what it would be like to display your own artwork and share your talents with others (in a gorgeous Mansion, no less!), we encourage you to submit work for consideration in this juried show. You never know who will walk away with the $1000 Best in Show prize! The submissions system is only available for entries until January 15th so don't delay. | | |

| | Decking the Halls Year after year, the Bryn Du Mansion's wrought iron fence is bedecked by the local Boy Scouts and Rotary Club of Granville. This effort is led every year by Granville resident, Steve Schneider, who is dedicated to making sure Bryn Du is decorated properly! By the numbers, approximately 3,000 feet of garland and almost 3,000 LED bulbs line the outskirts of the 32-acre Great Lawn. This entire project is done in the days leading up to Thanksgiving each year. Thank you Steve, local Boys Scouts and Granville Rotary for helping to make Bryn Du beautiful for the holidays for the past 18 years! | | |

| | FREE Holiday Crafting Video Need some help to get into the holiday spirit? We've got you covered! In a normal year, the Bryn Du Art Center leads crafts at the Granville Historical Society's Old Academy Building during Granville's Candlelight Walking Tour. Because we are unable to do that this year, we have the next best best thing for you! Please enjoy this at-home holiday crafting video where instructor, Sarah Gray, teaches you how to make Scandinavian Citrus Decorations. Thank you, Sarah! | | |

| | Giving Tuesday - it's TODAY! Every year on Giving Tuesday, millions of people across the globe are mobilized to show up, give back and change their communities. The overall goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that one day, and touches every person on the planet. For the first time, Bryn Du is proud and excited to participate in this annual day of giving. If you are so inclined, we would love your support today. Thank you in advance! We appreciate you! | | |

| | Singer Shines at the Mansion Last month, Quincy shared some fun history about television shows and movies that have been filmed at Bryn Du but did you know that Bryn Du has also been the filming location of a music video? Presented by Justice, Maddi Jane's original song, Snowflakes, was filmed at Bryn Du and presented to the world during the 2016 holiday season. This incredibly uplifting video now has over 4 million views... and we see why! The video itself highlights stunning scenes of singer Maddi Jane on the Mansion's front patio, dining room, grand staircase and living room - including shots in front of one of Bryn Du's many gorgeous fireplaces. Please enjoy this video. We can't think of a better way to kick off this year's holidays. | | |

| | Quincy's History Corner Hi everybody! I bet you didn't know but my family and I just love the library. Much like the past Bryn Du owners! In fact, I just learned that in 1922, John Sutphin Jones pledged $10,000 to the library's construction process and it is suspected that this action generated the call to have Frank Packard undertake the design work! Upon her death, Alice Baxter Jones, second wife of Mr. Jones, also bequeathed $10,000 to the Granville Public Library. And, fun fact: Alice, and daughters, Alice Virginia and Sallie, were all “Friends of the Library”! I love that the Jones Family was so good to our community because community is so important to us at Bryn Du! In case our paths don't cross in the next few weeks, HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Love, Quincy | | |

| | Did You Miss It? Last year, Bryn Du was absolutely thrilled to be highlighted on WOSU's Columbus Neighborhoods: Going Big. Filmed during the summer of 2019, this very special episode of the television program officially aired, after much anticipation, in December of last year. Columbus Neighborhoods is a weekly magazine show on WOSU TV that explores the history, stories and people that make Columbus and central Ohio a truly unique place to live. Above is a screenshot of Executive Director Bruce Cramer speaking with Architectural Historian Jeff Darbee during the show's filming. Please enjoy this great overview of our property (including unrenovated spaces!) and programs on this one-year anniversary of its debut. | | |

| | Stained Glass History In case the Mansion didn't give it away, the Jones Family was quite wealthy. Mr. Jones is known to have made his money from railroads and coal. What you might not know, however, is that the entire Jones family was benevolent and giving. In addition to other entities, his measured philanthropy also extended to the First Presbyterian Church of Granville where his wife and her family were members. Not only did he contribute to repairs that were needed by the church in 1921, but Mr. Jones also purchased beautiful stained glass windows in honor of his first wife, his parents, and his second wife’s parents. This generosity would later be duplicated by his second wife, Alice, in his honor. Photo is care of the Presbyterian Church of Granville's facebook page. | | |
